It's devastating on the point of shear horror as it will take hundreds and hundreds of years for the jungle if ever it is allowed to return to a level similar to what it was before the ECO-SIDE brings mass pollution on a level that will take nearly a thousand years to reverse, OUTRAGEOUS !!!!!!!!!!

Its so dam maddening It's really no different to these countries that wipe out complete religious groups Genocide by slaughtering millions just take WW2 BUT NOW look at it in BIOLOGICAL terms ????

It is the third oil spill in Amazon this year and no action was indeed taken by the fact that there are major interests involved that without any doubt are most important for development - that within Latin America will be plain sailing - Peru than life and the degradation of the environment of the Amazon jungle, its fauna and half a dozen indigenous people who are only pitied by "nasty environmentalists." This is said by someone who 61 years ago lived in Brazil where he spends quite similar situation, although currently not even the economy of this country is justifying nothing but the general prison 2/3 of Congress.

LEAVE ALL FILTHY FOSSIL FUELS IN THE GROUND. FOREVER.
To avert Climate CATASTROPHE due to Rapid Global Warming.

Leave the OIL IN THE SOIL;

Leave the COAL IN THE HOLE;
Leave the TAR SANDS IN THE LAND.
And NO FRACKING ANYWHERE, EVER!
This must be Environmentalists' MANTRA:
LEAVE IT IN THE GROUND.

STOP THE *SUICIDE ECONOMY*
of GLOBAL CORPORATE CAPITALISM.

WE MUST STOP the CONSTANT EXPANSION of Global Corporate Capitalism,
that needs to Constantly Grow and Extract Every Single Extractable Resource on the Planet, regardless of what else is harmed,
in its quest for OBSCENE PRIVATE PROFIT$$$$$ OF A VERY, VERY, VERY FEW.

"Overall at play here is a system of environmental racism ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM in which indigenous villages along the pipeline route become de facto 'sacrifice zones.' SACRIFICE ZONES.

Somehow virtually none of the profits generated by the oil industry over decades is available to ensure that Amazonian communities don't have to watch their primary sources of livelihoods—the river, the forest—become irrevocably polluted by spills.

The situation is criminal, and responsibility extends through PetroPeru to national politicians who weakened environmental regulations in recent years and the international oil companies that benefit from the pipeline."

This is an INTER-CONNECTED GLOBAL SYSTEM, and the U.S. government and Corporations are just as heavily involved as anyone else, IT IS ALL CONNECTED and these CRIMINALS ALL MAKE THE LAWS SUPPORTING EACH OTHERS' CRIMINAL AGENDAS....

Chris Hedges wrote a book about Sacrifice Zones and we have many around the world. You better believe the wealthy will never get one in their backyard.

This is simply terrible but the Elites just feel that some lives are less than others and the land is simply to be used and abused in order to line their pockets.

Another Sacrifice Zone is in Nigeria and I just posted a video on it. There are 3 stories, all equally good on the video but if the reader wants to get to the story about NIgeria go to 15:45. Basically Nigeria has some of the world's LARGEST oil reserves and natural gas- yes, so you know that can't be pretty.

The Nigerians should be doing well for themselves, however Nigeria has some of the worst poverty with a life expectancy of 53 years.

Guess who controls Nigeria oil? Shell and Chevron.

The kickbacks go into the pockets of the Elites, both to the companies and the ones in Nigeria that are in a contract with Shell and Chevron but the common people see little of the billions for this oil or gas.

Human rights violations for people speaking out on the corruption, the extreme pollution, and the people are living in terror from the police their own military, but Shell also has it's own private army that inflicts abuse upon the local people.

This is certainly something worth viewing and if it is happening in Nigeria it is happening elsewhere and it will happen in the industrialized Countries as well if the people don't get wise to this. Here is the video:
Holes In The Dragnet Also Turkey and Nigeria

There are environmental groups going out now and bombing the pipelines, one a day, because they never could get results of their PEACEFUL requests for dealing with the health and poverty issues that these oil companies have created in collusion with their government. Now the military of Nigeria is being sent to fight these environmentalist who only want health care, schools, the toxic pollution to stop and be cleaned.

Yes, these people want a chance at a decent life....oh my how dare they.

The USA is behind this by supplying aid, weapons, and are advisors to the Nigerian Govt. meaning we are helping to go against the poverty stricken and abuse people.

Please do watch learn what your Country is doing and a part of.........

Noted. Thanks for posting, Judy.
Yes, I agree this is evil. And, thanks to Dandelion for the additional info and link.
I don't know what we can do about it.....other than share so that others know how awful and terrible these oil companies are with their 'sacrifice zones.' And, how the US has been so complicit in raking profits off these other countries while destroying them and the people at the same time.

Lois: "I don't know what we can do about it.....other than share....."

The FIRST STEP, going on HERE, is, we TELL EVERYONE WE CAN POSSIBLY REACH - SPREAD THE NEWS.
Take the BLINDERS off of people!!!
The Internet, and Petitions, and Books and Videos and Alternative News Sources, are all useful for that.
And don't forget, just TALKING TO your Family, Friends, Neighbors, and Children - that's POWERFUL!!!

The NEXT step, is, we ORGANIZE OURSELVES....
Then, if we have to, if it comes to that [and it WILL!], we take DIRECT ACTION - CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.

We use our Bodies to BLOCK THE MACHINE.... often at great risk to ourselves! [INDIGENOUS PEOPLE ARE ALREADY DOING THIS, IN MASSES.... but, of course, we don't hear about it in the Mass Media, but WE DO HEAR ABOUT IT HERE ON CARE2.... where we can SPREAD THE WORD...]

Those of us, maybe most of us sitting here, who are elderly, physically handicapped in some way, or stay-at-homes responsible for other people, can STILL, MAKE CLEAR OUR VERBAL AND VISIBLE SUPPORT for the RESISTANCE - which really MEANS A LOT, and makes a DIFFERENCE to those people NOW AND IN THE FUTURE, ON THE FRONT LINES....
Resistance WILL HAVE TO BE PHYSICAL, *IS* PHYSICAL RIGHT NOW.
It may start out Non-violent, but THE STATE WILL USE VIOLENT MEANS OF REPRESSION, on behalf of the GLOBAL CORPORATIONS THAT CONTROL THE STATE.
THAT is the state of affairs now, and IT WILL BE TO COME....

THAT is what we specifically, you and I right here, can do.
We can SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR, and ENCOURAGE, the Physical, Spiritual, Mental RESISTANCE, even if "only" with our WORDS, Petitions, Pictures and Videos circulated.....
IT STILL MEANS A LOT!!!!!

Thank all of you for caring.....

Just as a reference to those of you who are seduced by Hillary Clinton and the Corporate Capitalist drive for profit. What's her agenda for the Amazon and other rainforests and ecosystems?

Does her politics sit well with your conscience. . .?

Make the need for oil go away. Buy EV, solar for your homes, shop local, walk more, use paper bags, etc. All are small efforts, but if we all do it, It'll work.

There are some good comments here. Dandelion points out that we don't see these owners of these dirty extractive industries exploiting the land that they live on. I wish we could require the owners of these corporations to live on the site of their operations. If they even continued their enterprises, they would certainly do things differently. Realistically, though, as some have said, we need to do all we can to phase out fossil fuels.

Thank you for the link to the video, Dandelion. It provides some good illustrations of corporate exploitation of resources in some other countries. Chris Hedges' work on the issue of Sacrifice Zones is really very excellent.
