While revenues and cash flow from existing projects might look pretty good, future projects are a different story.

Waaaaaah, waaaaaah, waaaaaah. Fossil fuel is DEAD. Go for renewable! Canada will survive - even if none of their hockey teams can come close to Lord Stanley's little mug. (That will have to wait for after the seal slaughter ends for once and all.)

There was a time when Canada had sense enough not to even attempt to get oil from the tar sands. They knew it would be costly and perhaps not possible. It would involve very intensive and destructive practices in order to extract, transport, and refine the heavy, dirty stuff. Now they can't foist off enough pipelines in their own country to transport it. The oil companies are being forced now to give fair consideration to the First Nations, who don't want the pipelines in their territory. We in the United States have resisted them for good reasons, leaving them with the environmental mess they have created and no way to move enough of this oil to make it worthwhile. Prices have fallen, and may never rebound. Too bad. Fossil fuels are on their way out.

I always loved that Canada seemed more sensible than the USA but I guess everyone has a price. The tar oil sands was a disaster from start and I hope it will soon be finished.

More jobs in the USA are being created through clean and green technologies. Why our Govt is so far behind the eight ball on this is because they have chosen the wrong side, remaining with the dinosaurs instead of moving into a progressive future.

Yes, Canada will survive they have a lot more going for it than dirty tar sands. In fact this will be better for Canada and the rest of us overall.

The outlook for Canada moving away from this tar sands oil does look fairly good. I'm very happy with that prospect. Many people, including First Nations, are suffering the consequences of this foolish enterprise.

renewables sound good, a current cliché for many but it involves cutting millions of trees for fuel.

I hope that land reclamation is included in the ability of Big Oil to extract oil from the tar sands.
