Scrutiny of fraud fades as feds go lax on an industry that Obama targeted.

Very grimly S&N. Crooks enabling crooks to rip off the vulnerable...what a surprise (not)! If regulators won't police these greedy idiots, maybe journalists should step in and let people know about for-profit schools and their various perfidies! Thx for sharing Judy. Grrrrr...

I think Kathleen hit it on the head. In each of the positions Trump placed in there the people to do the exact opposite of what is needed. Yet people like to think he doesn't know what he is doing, he knows, because he's taking care of the people he hangs out with, other billionaires and multimillionaires. It is we who are the stupid ones that keep thinking that they give a crap about us.

I personally know some hard-working and sincere people who chose to go to those ripoff private colleges because they did not have access to the right information about how to choose a school. Those schools have long been a pet peeve of mine, and where I live we have a lot of advertising on TV for those schools that prey on the people who can least afford to make a wrong decision. They are lured into going to these schools with the promise of financial aid, which is inadequate to cover the hyperinflated costs of the schools compared to legitimate schools. They get saddled with huge student loan debt. If they finish school, sometimes no one will hire them with a degree from such a school. The ones I know of are not accredited. How low do you have to be to think this is okay? Oh, I know, as low as Trump and DeVos.

You ladies are certainly right. Anybody that thinks that Trump gives a rat's ass about anyone but himself and those in his circle is badly deluded. Whenever I talk to anyone who is considering themselves or their family going to any of these schools, I caution them about the facts. I tell them they can go to a much cheaper municipal or state college for a fraction of the cost, and be much more confident that they will be able to find a job. The more information gets out to the public about this, the better.

Just looking for more sneaky ways to put people in a permanent state of unescapable debt. Looks as though the idea of free education at least through the equivalent of a Bachelor's isn't such a bad idea.

Seems as though everything is "for profit" these days. But talk about making more things free or at least affordable, bewail how people are stuck in the tar baby of poverty, and a chorus of knot-heads belch about "Communism" and "it works till you run out of other people's money." Blah, blah, blah. If the rich and corporations paid their fair share in taxes, if all tax dodges and shelters were eliminated, if we had the - ahem - family jewels to tax religious institutions the same way as non-profits, we would have plenty of moolah to fund education, as well as health care, infrastructure repairs and maintenance, food banks, homeless shelters, programs to get people out of debt and poverty.

But instead we squander it all on tax breaks for those who need them least, corporate welfare, and our obscenely bloated "defense" budget.
