Seattle quickly walked back a tax on major businesses that would have raised money for affordable housing after Amazon threatened to stop construction in the city.

He looks like a Hobbitt

from the article
" Jeff Bezos, the wealthiest person in the world with a net worth of some $140 billion, is building a small palace in Washington, D.C., and has increased the money Amazon spends on lobbying fourfold in five years. Local politicians, eager for a piece of Bezos’s largesse, have taken notice. When Amazon announced plans for a second headquarters in some lucky U.S. (or Canadian) city, metropolises across the country offered themselves up, sparking a tax-incentives arms race. The mayor of Kansas City tried to stand out by buying and reviewing 1,000 products "

Now, I believe Hobbit and furry TROLL!!!

"This, as it turns out, was a bridge too far for Amazon, Seattle’s biggest employer, which has a market value of some $800 billion. Amazon and other major employers in the city vocally opposed the tax. While Amazon typically stays quiet when it comes to Seattle politics, the company played hardball with the city council, saying that while the council considered the tax, it would temporarily pause construction on a high-rise near its headquarters in protest. “I can confirm that pending the outcome of the head-tax vote by city council, Amazon has paused all construction planning on our Block 18 project in downtown Seattle and is evaluating options to sublease all space in our recently leased Rainier Square building,” Amazon Vice President Drew Herdener told The Seattle Times in May. “Our firm was notified late in the day yesterday to pause the project pending the resolution of the head-tax issue that the city council is currently deliberating, so we are suspending our work immediately on the project based on that "

Amazon makes a tons of $$$ and apparently this TROLL thinks he Trump! YOU'RE FIRED...YOU GET NADAD I'm hoping I am reading this correctly since I have been up a L O N G Time this is disturbing~ where are the days that people that have $ helped others instead of telling them to bend over!

Our system is totally done the dumpster (Wish I could of said something else) ....Thank you Judy, kinda ticked off ~ MAJOR type! Hope this TROLL/HOBBIT falls into a sink hole today and his heirs are not quite as greedy as this Arsh!

I have to agree with Animae that our so-called great leader and all other city/county governments are to blame. Sick of the wealthiest getting richer. Screw that. They should be the ones paying the most taxes. Thanks Judy

A pox on Amazon! Hell, a thousand poxes on that damned company! I have avoided it like Chernobyl for years. If you do enough searching, you can find plenty of alternatives.

Corporations and government can share the blame. For all practical purposes corporations are the government. It's certainly not a democracy.

Just caught this Animae...In USA Business and GOV'T are tied hard. I also think the Stock market is there also. It is a POOL of GOOP (can I get away with that here?) Most people in the USA IMHO have no desire to do anything except see what they can get.
Where do we draw that line dear??? You live in Australia and fight so hard and make make me smile with all your comments, BUT there are a LOT of issues in the USA that others on this site are not aware of.
While I worked for RR I think T is goofy! Penny brain and if I was lucky to be in the same room with him I would say YOUR FIRED! Not what I would desire for the USA it is horrific to as an older person & I am still morning Robert Kennedy I would of ADORED HIM as a President. I remember the Cuba trying to hide with JFK...OPPS battery dead

Why not tax the very rich 75%? That amount wil help all the poor homeless or not isn't the point. I always wonder what the ridiculous rich will do with that much money? Will they carry it to their graves? Poverty is not natural but a man-made one, so we can solve it and we can choose to deal with it peacefully or not. I am tired with the gap between the rich and the poor that keeps widening, who can live in peace in the world like this? Let's fight and begin by refuse that few coins but go straight to change the rules at the heart of the issues. Meows meow Judy
