I didn't find anything for my area but it sounds like a great event wherever they're planned. Our search for oil and for invading countries we think have the oil we want is killing us as a people. We MUST get off fossil fuels! Thanks, Dandelion.

Sorry Caitlin, there was nothing in my area either but I still wanted to get this out there for those who might have an event near them. Besides it is nice to know that people are doing something to bring awareness.

I find it amusing people who cry "get off fossil fuels" use them each and everyday. hypocrites? It starts with the individual. If you cannot do it why do you advocate others do? Do what I say, not what I do?

Enjoyed watching the video presentation...

We really need to find other sources for power and fuel to get away from the oil industries
that are choking the atmosphere and causing global warming. We cannot allow the corporations
to build nuclear power plants as we already have witnessed the results of Fukushima.

Ty, Dandelion.

We are dependent upon fossil fuels because, until recently, there haven't been any viable alternatives. While it's impossible to stop using them completely at this point in time, we need to reduce our usage as much as possible, promote the development of renewable energy sources, demand vehicles that are fuel efficient or use alternative means of energy, etc. It can't happen overnight, but it has to start someplace!

Thanks, Dandelion!

Penny, you are very silly. Awarness of the problem is the first step in any change in a process. So when people write, we need to get off fossil fuels it is an acknowledgement of the limitations and the realization that to survive we will need to make a transition to something else.

Be patient, change takes time, however if we do nothing we will have boxed ourselves into a corner and there will be nothing to transfer too when the time comes. Open your mind, help to explore and find a solution to the problems of our age. Alternatives and fall back posiitons are good for us. Come and join those that seek a secure future for us and our children.

In order to get away from fossil fuels, we must break the stranglehold that Big Oil has on our entire country, and most of the world. We are making baby steps in that direction now. Even plastics and plastic bags are made from oil.

You are correct Barbara K about the plastic bags. There are many reasons to stop using them and go to use of your own sacks. Sacks can be designed to the size you want, the style and colors, I find my sacks are a part of me and how I want to represent me. They last a long time, can be tossed in the wash, and I even have some that go along with the seasons.

Ok, thanks to Angelika I do have an event near me, not sure why I couldn't find it before. I must of had my eyes shut. Is why I love C2, we watch each others backs. Anyways, got an event at Daytona Beach which is a 20 minute drive, easy to do, for me. I'll be there. Thanks Angelika.

Marco - calling me very silly... Howso? I do not burn one drop of oil in my home. Woodstoves, wood furnace, how do you heat your home? I use renewable energy sources more than most on this site. Do you cut and split over 15 cord of wood a year?

This event sounds good. The world needs cleaner vehicles and also - importantly - lower energy transport solutions such as walking, cycling and public transit. We can help make it happen.

TY Dandelion. The less gas fumes into the air the better. And don't forget wind turbines and solar panels help reduce fossil fuel consumption. I LOVE wind turbines.

Oh how wonderful Eileen.....it always makes me feel good when I post something and it has a postive affect for someone on C2 or brings awareness on an issue. If you can report back how these events went.
