The driver kicked 13 passengers off his Greyhound bus after discovering that they were Occupy protesters from San Diego en route to Washington DC. He called them "you people" and said they were not welcome in the Nations Capital or anywhere else.

Itís not right and should not be tolerated in the United States of America. But this is the kind of hatred that corporations and conservatives have generated against the Occupy Movement. To call Greyhound and tell them how you feel, call 800-442-8480.

Thank you so much for finding this and posting! I will be making the call in the morning.

I would suggest that Occupy initiate a boycott and switch to Trailways.

I understand drunk sailors being kicked off, but this? I suppose the driver would rather have 2 drunk seacooks fighting over which one hated the driver the most.

This is becoming 'normal' for people of the extreme views. I hope more and more people see this kind of nasty behavior from those who fail to 'get it' and that those who do see the nastiness, do something to show their disgust with the status quo.

I will definitely be calling Greyhound to suggest they fire the drivers that treated passengers so distastefully.

So glad that you made us all aware of this. I will call Greyhound and let them know how displeased I am with allowing this moron to eject these good people. I am sure he is part of the 99 percent too, just too dumb to know it.

Sheryl G (359)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 7:54 am
You are correct Franco, he more than likely, still driving a bus for Greyhound, is part of the 99%. But this is the brainwashed society we are dealing with, not all have climbed out of the fog. Some resist climbing out of the fog, it isn't easy to begin to "see".....one then has to question their whole life.....so some would rather not.

The driver should be put behind a desk and never drive a bus again.

Obviously, he has very severe issues with people and should not be in a public position.

Then, there is the "re-education" method...

Ty, Dandelion.

What shame on these drivers, and Greyhound Bus Co. especially in consideration of the fact of the Freedom Riders who rode buses and changed segregation laws back in the Civil Rights movement days. This is irony at its best. OWS and the Civil Rights movement are all related because it is about HUMAN RIGHTS and how we define ourselves as a country.
Greyhound Bus Co. has a lot to answer to.

Wow Free speech is alive and well !!!
We've only got one Greyhound route here in the UK so it isn't hard to boycot but I will.

Sheryl G (359)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 1:00 pm
Be sure to let them know why Christine, so they understand. Maybe the ones in the UK will put pressure on the the Management in Texas so this doesn't happen again.

Greyhound needs to be told that unless something is done to this driver, fined, suspended, what have you, that there will be a movement to boycott Greyhound. That driver should have to pay any expenses it cost those people back out of his pocket.

Thanks for this article, Dandelion. This is absolutely outrageous! Just wondering if this is SOP for Greyhound employees...or if our Occupiers were targeted. For locking a busload of people on the bus, I'd think a lawsuit would be in order. Complaining just doesn't seem harsh enough.

Tuesday January 17, 2012, 3:30 pm
This is unreal. The cops should not have given in to this bully. They should have explained the LAW, and if the driver objected to doing the job that he gets paid for, the company should have sent out a relief driver... paid for with the moron driver's salary, of course - not that the driver would have a salary after this if anybody INTELLIGENT were running that company. 'Cause the Occupy people were not doing anything other than sitting in their seats, right? When did sitting in one's bus seat become illegal?

Sheryl G (359)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 3:41 pm
I thought of that myself Lois, unlawful imprisonment by being "locked" on the bus.

I don't understand how the wcops backed up the idiot driver. He was way out of line and I hope Greyhound decides to terminate him. He has no busnisses dealing with the public on any level!

I'm familiar with both the antisocial and unlawful activities of some OWSheeple and the often fussy attitudes of greyhound drivers. I don't think everything is being well represented in this case...

Shan D (49)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 4:17 pm
"Often" fussy attitudes??? What kind of customer relations training do they *give* Greyhound drivers down there, anyway? The only time I EVER saw a Canadian Greyhound driver do anything unprofessional was on a trip from Calgary to Red Deer - a 90-minute trip if on the express route, perhaps another 20 -30 minutes if on the milk run. He stopped on the outskirts to chat with somebody in a passing vehicle - a friend or acquaintance - for about 5 minutes. It surprised me greatly that he would do that, but nobody objected and the bus wasn't more than a few minutes late pulling in to Red Deer.

But lose their temper and start abusing people because of personal reasons? Never saw such a thing here. The drivers have always been polite and professional. In Canada it's the management of that company that's abusive - they keep blackmailing the government to "bail us out, we're going broke, bail us out or we'll cut service in the whole north of the province!" - knowing full well that the Greyhound is the ONLY way that some people have to get to a decent-sized town, never mind an actual city.

This sounds so much like what happened in the segregated south in the '50s and '60s. If Greyhound had any class it would foot the bill for those booted off in NM for the remainder of the trip.

Driver should be fired and Greyhound Lines should be sued.

Deborah L (70)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 7:37 pm
the driver has a history of this so why hasn't Greyhound fired him ?

Dandelion G: thanks for the "toll free" phone number, I shall call it every time I feel like it just for something to do. Glad I don't use them and now I shall not even consider Greyhound at all.

Susanne R (236)
Tuesday January 17, 2012, 8:02 pm
Don Ainsworth is a bus driver for Greyhound, not the owner of the company, so what gives him the right to pick and choose which "paying" customers should be allowed to get the service they paid for and which should be forced to exit? The man's actions were discriminatory, probably based on ignorance and a sense of self-importance (referring to the bus as "MY BUS"), and he should be fired.

I suppose this incident may illustrate why right-wingers use private buses to ferry their supporters. 'Course I doubt any bus company would eject a a rightie for any bad behavior whatsoever.

I tried to call Greyhound and got a horrible phone loop which never ended in my reaching a person with who to register my complaint. I suppose they are getting a LOT of calls on this, and have simply cut us off. Does anyone else have a 'live' number?

I'm working on something else at the moment but if anyone else can add the information on here please feel free. Otherwise I'll look into it later today. I am sure is exactly the case with the phone, stop taking the calls then they don't have a problem, eh?

lol....funny Gloria. You are most likely right about the Rush thing. Not bad enough we have the ignorance that fills our airways, but too many people believe that man, hook, line, and sinker, and then the rest of the people have to deal with this ignorance.

Greyhound needs to apologize, and give the occupiers a busload of free tickets. After all, the 99% ARE the ones that use buses!

It never stops amazing me how people can be so ignorant. In the land of the "free" they act like fascists. Some how in their bebe brains they think they are defending liberty by denying it to others. Must have been a follower of Fox news. The destortion there is utterly mind blowing.

Was going to send you a green star Dandelion but already done so. Shame on Greyhound for doing so. But to was the occupiers transulating so other could understand since most are hispanics that ride the bus. That could of made the difference. Lets see where Greyhound stands when they need help when the 99% wins....! The bus driver needs to be fired. I think their was discrimanation done to the occupiers.

Phillip had a good point. Lets go Trailways with a smoother ride.

I also feel he was discriminating Jon. He can certainly have his opionion of the OWS, but if these people were doing no wrong he has an obligation to do his job and take his paying customers where they were going. As he should do if someone has a nose ring or orange hair he might not like, if they paid, are sitting in their seat doing no wrong, he should do his job and drive.

We have a kidnapping charge, (which may include reckless endangerment), a bias crime, and cops who did not uphold the law. Much trouble here. Boycott Greyhound. Fire the driver and revoke his license. Thanx Sheryl.

He may indeed be fired, as he was acting on his own, and I surmise, against company policy if these people were not misbehaving in any way. If he is not fired, a lawsuit should definitely be brought against the Company. to get to the bottom of this. Meanwhile I will call. Thanks Sheryl.

TY Dandelion. Yes BOYCOTT !! I have never traveled by bus and didn't know of this story. IGNORANCE and POWER. I do imagine the lines are 'bogged' down as previously mentioned. Now my puter is working I will compose a letter this evening or tomorrow. I agree that Petitions are needed, although that is such a long and lonely path! I continue to sign!!!

He's probably inbred....definately redneck...most likely a teabagger... and thinks he's the best thing in driving since buttered bread. Dayum, I really loathe living down here....sigh. He needs to be fired and Greyhound needs to be Boycotted. I won't use them ever again.

TY for the address that I didn't see previously. I have composed a letter and will make sure it gets in the post tomorrow.
