March 22nd is Water Day, but I don't think many people realize what is happening around the world concerning the water, includes their own backyard.

This film is a real eye opener, so please grab the popcorn, carrot sticks, and sweet tea and settle back for a viewing. We all need to be aware of this, it is vital! Water IS life.

I remember when I watched this about a year ago (I think on Sundance Channel), my thought was, "If corporations can control something as important to life as water . . . What next? Air?"

And, considering the lax restrictions on air quality being promoted now, that's actually coming true.

I guess we can foresee companies promoting purer air -- at a higher cost -- for our individual homes; and less toxic water being hoarded by those who can afford it.

This is greed to a frightening degree!!

Barbara's submission that she mentioned above.

It certainly is Carole. People are worried today about keeping roof over their heads, shoes on their feet, I do not want to live in a time when simply having enough less toxic water and food is the best I can hope for. I've already read those stories that is happening now in other places around the globe. We need to lessen those horrid conditions that many are in, not increase it.

Very interesting. Thank you for the post. If it was not for the fact that the sustainable energy hydrogen fuel cells that will move our cars around, create as their bi-product pure clean water... I would join anyone is saying that now would be the time for panic.

Mother Earth is once more being merciful to the reprobate species, a species that can certainly not be called intelligent.

On this continent and without greedy corporations, this reprobate species has managed to poison and pollute a very high percentage of the water from "Sea to Shining Sea" in the pursuit of Manifest Destiny.

Let's look at Appalachia, the first stop after disembarking on the East Coast. A good place to examine would be the Appalachian Trail, a 2100 mile dedicated hiking camping trail along the spine of the Appalachians from Georgia to Maine. The pristine wilderness of the east side of the United States. Only four springs along the 2100 mile trail are not poisoned or pollutied. A biological agent, Giardia is the cause of the poison.

Giardia is a genus of anaerobic flagellated protozoan parasites...... See that word "anaerobic". It means that the fantastic oxygenated fluidized sand and pebble cleansing machine, designed by Mother Nature, has been destroyed by the filth ground into the earth as these bold settlers passed this way.

Let's not forget the Oil and Gas companies as everything they do affects your drinking water, and the air. As does nuclear energy plants. So if you really care about life and the ability for life on this planet to continue don't just make comments on Care2 - do something! The XL Pipeline is hanging in the balance, call the president's office, call your Senators and Congress people - call every day and know that all phone calls must be recorded for the Library of Congress - letters can be shredded, emails deleted but phone calls must be recorded - the issue and whether you are pro or con. This pipeline will supply a few temporary jobs and it will not be kept in good condition, we have too many examples in the US and around the world, it will leak and it will make the ground water toxic.

We are losing our country and our rights - no one is fighting back, daily there is a new attack from Washington DC on our basic rights and what is being done by the citizens?
Yes, this is a very important video and yes our water is critical but if you do nothing more then tsk, tsk what damn shame, then the future is lost.

Giardiasis is an infection of the small intestine caused by a microscopic organism (protozoa), Giardia lamblia. Symptoms: Abdominal pain; Diarrhea; Gas or bloating; Headache; Loss of appetite; Low-grade fever; Nausea;......almost always death for those under two. 50% of giardia infections suffered by people over 65 are fatal too.

The protozoa can be destroyed by the water treatment pills available to hikers and campers. These chemicals are not recommended for long term use by the people who purchase them. The protozoa can also be killed by the double boil method. In the double boil method, you boil a quantity of water for ten minutes in a rolling boil, let it cool completely and boil it again for ten minutes. In the water, the protozoa are in a microscopic black shell which can only be opened by the chemical in stomach acid or rapid boiling twice. The pill also includes these chemicals. So, the pills are a lot of money for a little bit of potable water and the double boil is a lot of firewood for a little bit of potable water.

How did this happen to this pure mountain water? These people were very greedy like the people who run corporations. They kept herding animals. They always kept more animals than they needed and generally in an area too small for the number of animals. The animals were ill from the over crowding. The animals had several strains of e coli. Huge amounts of diseased animal and human fecal matter were ground into Mother Earth. Cleansing systems designed for a native tribe to visit the high mountains for prayer or several families of traveling deer collapsed.

The agents of destruction passed through without noticing anything. They kept going west, "Sea to Shining Sea". Then they got to the Rockies. The Rockies had precious and rare metals. So they had to add mining chemicals, arsenic and cyanide etc., to all the pollution and poison they already knew how to apply.

The US government tried to build another long hiking, camping trail in the Rockies. They could not find a continuous 2.000 north -south miles as "clean" as the one on the east side of the country. I would not want to camp or drink water out there if they had built a trail.

Now, do not get me wrong. Corporations are doing wicked things and plan to do much worse. Some "short" bankers need to be introduced to "tall" trees as George Washington's vice president, Aaron Burr used to say as he formed a lynch mob.

But, in time, we will return to the same condition we are now in, if we do not look in the mirror. We should never call ourselves "intelligent" until we are sure that we can call ourselves "responsible".

President George W. Bush bought 98,440 acres of land in Paraguay. His father already owned 173,000 acres. They bought this for the water and the natural gas reserves.

Water Privatization has been going on for a very long time in France, since the time of Napoleon. In 2009 water returned to the people.

In 1982 Margaret Thatcher privatized all of the water in Great Britain. It was at this time that large companies decided they wanted to go global with Water Privatization. They saw green, and not the environmental kind.

All proceeds from this article are donated to EarthJustice because the EARTH needs a lawyer!

Proudly brought to you by: CoalMiningAppalachia.com

World Bank would give debt relief in exchange for Water Privatization. Water Privatization has always created an increase in what people pay for water.
A liter of bottled water in the US costs about $2.00. Using tap water you could fill 4000 liters for the same price.

I don't mean to get so off topic, but these things are all related.

I don't care who is piping in the water if it really is clean, they aren't making massively insane profits, and there isn't a handful of companies that own it all. When water is totally owned by a certain number of large corporations they can charge us absolutely anything they want and we will have no choice but to pay it. This is where we are headed and it's why water is traded and people like the Bush family are buying up massive numbers of acreage in Paraguay.

http://peakwater.org/

“A report released today on global water security from the Defense Intelligence Agency assesses that in next 10 years, water instability will be likely in “nations important to the United States”, and says that in the next decades, the use of water as a weapon will become more likely.

The report, which focused on the Nile, Tigris-Euphrates, Mekong, Jordan, Indus, Brahmaputra, and Amu Darya water basins, states that the availability of potable water will not keep up with demand without better water management.

While environmentalists have pointed to agroecology, food sovereignty and viewing water as part of the commons as a path towards responsible water management, the intelligence report sees biotechnology, agricultural exports and virtual water trade as the way forward.

Today, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who requested the report, commented on the report in a speech at the State Department, saying, “As the world’s population continues to grow, demand for water will go up but our fresh water supplies will not keep pace.” “These difficulties will all increase the risk of instability within and between states,” she said.”

So now we have the use of water as a weapon, water can only be managed by biotechnology, only corporations can afford biotechnology.

A Warning From 1996
Jul 25 1996
Massively tragic overpopulation will not redeem, liberate or dignify anyone. Rather, it will imprison the human spirit, heighten economic inequality and kindle unending strife and despair.

William Hollingsworth http://overpopulationinsights.com/2010/07/25/overpopulation-warning-1996/

July 25, 1996 A birth in India tips the scales......When this infant is 20, there will not be enough potable water for people or profits. (In the calculations, no water was spared for our fellow creatures.)

The only thing in the future that anyone of us can change, CEO or citizen, is our own actions. The war we have to fight is within ourselves so that we can each emerge as responsible conservationists.

I will forward to all my friends and family. Thank you Dandelion and thank you all.

While I was living in rural Missouri, there were a couple of cases of meningitis every year. Children swimming in shallow rivers got sick. Every year, one or two youths would die. One would think rural Missouri would be a clean environment, but the agriculture industry and other variables contributed to the problem.

Remember DDT? Well, I learned, during the last three years, that the DDT sprayed throughout the United States eventually broke down and that is why we are having more bedbug epidemics throughout the U.S. and even in clean, posh hotels. I guess DDT has a half-life of five or six decades!

I watched the video and posted it on Facebook. I hope some of my friends will watch it!!!

When I started working for a consulting civil engineer in 1963, water born sewage could be returned to potable water with a Davco Wastewater Treatment Plant (design comes start from Mother Nature).

It is not a desperate situation and we are not going to lose potable water.

Siemens Water Technologies in Thomasville, GA offers the proven Davco brand technologies for filtration, separation, clarification, aeration, biological treatment, and screw pump equipment for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment.

Dandelion, thank you very much for posting this EXTREMELY IMPORTANT issue, OUR WATER. Normally I do not sit and watch a Youtube video over 15 minutes, but this was an excellent informational film. I was glued for the 1-hour and 23-minutes and could easily watched more.

I have always believed that the privatization and commercialization of this natural resource is not something the people of the world should allow, that peaceful activism in opposition is the first response WE must all be involved in, BUT, should that not work then WE must take other steps to crush the multinational corporations from taking control of the PEOPLES' RIGHT to OUR first natural resource.

If our governments call that "terrorism", SO BE IT! It may be the only alternative WE as a human race will have, WE have seen over and over again that the world governments do not listen to the PEOPLE, and do not care about their welfare.

Thank you Danny, and I encourage everyone who took the time to view this film and felt the way I did, and obviously others who viewed it, to share it with as many people as possible. If they are not on C2 or the internet perhaps they can find it to rent or even at their local library obtain a copy.

Thanks a lot for this post dear Sheryl! A very important issue, I agree. I'm going to watch the video tomorrow when I have a little more time. And I will also share it with my friends at C2 and outside of C2 as well ;)

Noted, watched, and shared with gratitude and not a little anxiety. I am not a brave person, but, do try to act like one anyway, when I can. Thanks Dandelion and Carole.

Thank you Amena for watching. We are all having to be brave even when we don't feel it to get through the craziness that is being created for us on this Earth. This is a "vision" that only some are pleased with, most of us feel in our hearts that there is a better or another way.

Knowledge is key, I find that when I know something and can understand it, it has a calming feature to it. It is not that I am liking always what I know, but I do know. Then I can seek out like minded people who are also in this world who are working on issues very important to us all. With the support of others who are also working to improve and change things to the better, one can feel strength. The fact that you watched it is the steps on the road we all need to be doing. Thank you.
