Final push to raise money for the Sioux Nation's effort to save sacred site. Purchase price of $9M. Tribes have raised approx. $7.5M but have a shortfall. They only have until November 30, 2012 to raise the rest, can you help? Please let others know.

Thank you Dandelion. I had been updated by Pe' Sla until about 3 or 4 weeks ago and have not heard anything. I see this is a new origination and am pleased to hear an update. I have sent many donations in the past and am not able to send one at this moment. I feel horrible as I was trying my best to do all I could, but life has dealt me new challenges. Sending many Prayers from my Heart.

I realize not everyone can donate, this sale of such Sacred land came at a time when it is hard for many financially.

I do recall that they accepted as litttle as $1, as the saying goes, "every dollar counts". If you are not able to do even that much please pass this information along to give someone else the opportunity to partake that may be able to donate and would of wanted to donate, if they had only known of this fundraiser.

Can the Lakota not go to court as the lands were stolen from them and, as such, were part of a breach of the treaty? I still think that the land should be given back after all, it is not as if any payment was made in the first place. Gold was stolen from this land and compensation should be paid. But then we are talking about America...... will rummage in my bank account to see what is there apart from a few moths.

Time is of the essence Gillian and if the land was going to be "given" back they could of done so by now. The only way to get it back is to buy what was stolen. Sort of like someone robbing your home and you find your grandma's ring at the pawn shop, you can try to go about it all legal and then someone else buys it and you never see it again or you can buy it and have what means something to you back in your care again.

Thanks Tasunka, for your Foundations help, and for all those who have sent in $1, $15, $25, or $50 or whatever can be sent. Like raindrops that fall into a lake, one drop alone is hardly noticed but many together and the lake becomes full. It's unfortunate that we have these extremely well to do that will throw millions upon millions towards the past election, but to save something as precious as this, to do something that would come from a place of true generosity, and to maybe help correct a few wrongs, no these people can't be found with their check books.

I just had time to sit and reflect my day and what I 'heard' was to open this thread. When this was brought to our attention, Tim, myself and the good folks here in Ojai were able to donate just under $1,5oo.oo. I was so pleased to spend so much time and effort getting the news out ten fold what I thought possible for me. I accomplished more than I thought possible as this cause and plea was my obsession. We have come such a LONG WAY and I have as much Passion right now as I did then. You are right about accepting the $1.oo donation, and I share every penny counts!
Now I always say, "Come on can find a couple of quarters". As I am very close to being overdrawn due to "challenges" I will phone the bank first thing in the morning and Pray to Spirit I have $10.oo. Dandelion I have $60.oo cash, and will send a money order mo matter what. This is too close to my Heart. There was a saying I learned a couple of decades ago while I was in a 12 Step Program for Drugs and Alcohol that took me many years to accomplish. "Don't quit before the Miracle". I WILL NOT QUIT come Hell or High Water!

A Lovely Way to End My Day! My dearest Tim phoned a moment after my last post. While we were chatting I asked him to PLEASE not purchase me a Gift for Christmas. He is coming over first thing in the morn to donate $100.oo money order (I would not accept more), while I purchase my humble $10.oo money order! My dearest Diane (best friend in CO) is donating as well. It was too late to phone my other friends, but I left a message for them. I feel quite positive!
So I believe if you REALLY cannot afford even one dollar, there is much you can do...
This is such a BLESSING, as when I spent several hours "trying" to feed the Homeless, but this despicable Church which remains confidential, the Pastor and the Congregation were an hour late in serving. People wrapped around the park. Besides the wrath they bestowed upon me, the "message" was how INCREDIBLE the Pilgrims were. That was it for me! I have spent YEARS feeding our hungry and homeless, but NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH HORROR. After 4 1'2 hours TRYING to be of Service they ALMOST didn't give me a plate for my paralyzed neighbor. I say ALMOST as I wasn't leaving without his meal. This little contribution from friends working toghether has Healed my Day. ! LET'S WORK TOGETHER...WE HAVEN'T MUCH TIME FOLKS. Forgive me for rambling...Good night!

Thank you Wendy, is good to see you on the post as I've been concerned for you, so now at least I can take a sigh of relief. Thank you Susanne for your continued help with Pe' Sla and also for what you did on Thanksgiving. I'm sorry that some of the givers were not so organized, perhaps this was a new thing for them to do? Sometimes even the best intentions go awry when it's a first time experience for organizing things like this. I trust in the end at least many had full bellies at least for one day.

This is why Pe' Sla is so important, it will not only feed the people for one day, it will feed the Spiritual for years and years to come. We need their continued Ceremonies and prayers as our lands, waters, and air is being ruined at an alarming rate. The Great Sioux Nation will keep these lands pristine, allowing the flora and fauna to thrive and remain a place of beauty, otherwise they will be sold to developers that will turn them into another tourist trap, who knows maybe even a Wal-Mart someday.

Also, it is just the right thing to do, the land was stolen from them, a shame it is having to be bought back, the Federal Government could of given it back, but it won't, we all know that. But WE the People ARE this Country, and together we can help to give these lands back, combining our dollars we can do this. But only if each of us contribute something, even a dollar, and most important, forwarding this information to as many as we can to let others know of this.

Yes Dandelion, I believe with my Heart and Soul the second and third paragraph you offered in your last post. As soon as my computer will allow me (today even if I have to borrow Meg's) I will share this with all my friends. Tim is on his way over so we can get to the bank ASAP. I don't have time to read any other messages but hope to come home with even more Loving Gift's. As most wish to be anonymous I will only message you personally.
No worries about yesterday Sweetie other than I wish I could say this was the first year this particular Church offered their kindness. They have done this for decades from their tiny Church, but as our park is renewed and restored with proper sanitary conditions I suppose the EGO's got in the way. It was a power struggle among the people who thought they RAN THE CHURCH! I felt quite happy to know I sweat blood sweat and tears helping in EVERY WAY, just prior to the serving. It's ALL GOOD!!
JIM, Unfortunately I cannot STAR you yet! Wendy you are an Angel and I am so happy to hear you are back as well. Checking in later...

Whoever is holding this land hostage should be ashamed of themselves. I'm hoping they'll reconsider and take whatever is available. The difference between 7.5MILLION and $9MILLION should not stop the sale IMO, but of course, my reasoning may not prevail amongst the greedy of our country. Thank you Dandelion for your wonderful support and explanation regarding this project. I will pass the info along and will hold the sacred site of the Lakota Sioux in my heart. I do hope the project is successful because the land needs to be in the hands of those who respect it as sacred and worthy of preservation. May the goal be met and the nation be better for it.

Dandelion what a Lovely idea! I know I always send trees to people for Birthdays, Holidays, Earth-Arbor Day or just plain Mondays, and EVERYONE breaks into tears as if it is the Loveliest Gift they have ever received. This year I have flower packets to attract bumblebees and attract and feed butterflies to add. I think I will add another little gift as you mentioned. Gifts that keep on giving for just a couple of dollars. THANK YOU FOR THIS FABULOUS trees this year from me!

$64,796. 45 hours to go. No I do not know. I'm not a member of the Teton Sioux Nation that is having the direct involvement of this. A good friend of mine who is Lakota is grieving right now, just lost her daughter 2 days after Thanksgiving to a rare liver disease, so I don't want to disturb her at this time. It may be she wouldn't know either as with our own system we do not always know the inner workings of what is going on within the people who are in direct negotiations.

I can only hope that other groups are raising some funds that are not connected with this particular fundraiser, that maybe a loan could be obtained for the balance and maybe more fundraising done down the line to pay it off faster. I keep praying that maybe one of the wealthy people who have some compassion in their hearts may learn of this and just offer whatever balance is needed. It amazes me how multi-millionaires over here think nothing to spend millions of their dollars on the elections yet can't use that money to feed the hungry or do something such as this.

I've sent this link to all I know, I've given two speeches to groups outside of C2, I've stood downtown and spoke with anyone willing to listen and gave them a paper with the link to the fundraiser on it. I have done all I can think of and made another humble donation myself instead of having a wreath laid at my Father grave. So I thank all who have forwarded, donated, and cared. May many blessings be returned to you for having done so.

LILILILILILILILILILILILILLILILILIL WOOHOOOO what absolutely wonderful news! Thanks so much Tasunka and Sheryl, best news in a LOOONG time. This comes even premature, Nov 30 not over yet and 10 hrs to go at Indiegogo, probably ending with about 74 k, 75K if lucky. I just read your message Sheryl, could hardly believe it.
Tasunka would not accidently know where and how they got the missing million?
Anyways, it is completed and I too thank each and everyone who helped make this miracle possible! Above all our dear Dandelion who supported tirelessly despite enough own issues!

It didn't specify, but I suspect that a family member did it in his name. He was needing every cent for his cancer treatment, he was a very sick man while the first fundraiser was going. Whether some life insurance came in or is a way to honor his memory. I happened to see it, as I was looking for I wasn't certain that my donation had taken. The web page acted a bit strange. So I was looking for my name actually as I wanted to be sure my donation took and I ran across his name so placed it on here.

Susanne, I got your message but you said things are not working for you on C2, so not sure if you saw what I sent to you. So in hopes you'll check back here at some point, I think you are tracking the story. If you look at the what has just been written Pe' Sla has been obtained and a closing has taken place. Therefore do not worry on the fact of the donations you mentioned above by you and Tim not having been sent. Whatever the Great Plains Indians do have, as of today, is what was settled on at closing. The fundraising is done. The bottom line is a good ending has taken place.I thank everyone who did their part to see that this was possible.

Tribes Reach $9 Million Goal and Purchase Sacred Site of Pe' Sla
Vincent Schilling
November 30, 2012

In a historic culmination of events leading up to the Pe’ Sla purchase deadline of November 30, the Great Sioux Nation, or Oceti Sakowin has managed to raise the $9 million necessary to secure the sacred land in the Black Hills of South Dakota. In a private affair between the Reynolds family and representatives of the Great Sioux Nation, the contracts have been signed and the land is now in the hands of the nation.

Angelika our foundation made many anonymous donations in the memoriam of both Russel Means or the slain white buffalos in texas.
So, that might have been me.
My foundation has been in touch with the sioux nation all the time. There was much infighting about this among the tribes. Many did not agree with paying for stolen land that was promised to them in 1868,the treaty of fort Laramie.
The US govt. has set up a fund for broken treaties that consists of almost a billion dollars. Yet,the Sioux Nation will not touch the "cursed" money. They could have so easily bought the land with it, but wanted the world to be a part of it,and because sacred land has no monetary value to a Sioux.

It's amazing what can be accomplished when folks put their mind to it. Good news indeed. It's as it should be. In the keep of the rightful owners. Thanks Dandelion for staying abreast of this issue.

Tasunka, I see, thx, so we'll take it for that it "might" have been you then, bless your heart!
Thx also for the Huff Post link, at least that article mentions 2 more "celebrities", good on Betty M. (a shame more of the "big ones" we've all been waiting for to donate big time remained away or invisible)
I've been well aware of all the struggle among the tribes and can surely agree with the opponents, but the goal had to be reached in a legal way by today's laws, as Chase Iron Eyes had said before.
The govt. monies layed aside should never be touched as that would mean agreeing with the whole illegal deal and losing all their rights forever.

I donated a bit, and here I am in between jobs again. Had I accepted millions when I was in my 20s, and not been so humble, I could have helped on reservations all of these years.

I am beside myself with happiness Sheryl! I feel so humble and yet so ecstatic that I was able to be a part of something so incredibly epic. And you know what the strange but yet not strange thing is? The day before I donated, I received a beautiful Christmas dream catcher made by the Lakota children as a thank you for a previous donation for their schooling. It was definitely a message from the Great Spirit telling me that I still had more to give. I am so very thankful for the this miracle.
