Let's SHARE WIDELY, this BETTER gain tens of thousands signs. Most of us saw and heard him, barely holding back his tears and there's honesty in his words " with the losses to which we cannot adjust." (while obviously other societies/their leaders have less problems adjusting to these losses.., giving their inaction...)

You're welcome Angelika, I saw it on the thread to your story and figured if you were placing it on the news you would of done so. It is an important petition and I hope that people on C2 will for at least this petition see to it that everyone on their list gets notified. Climate affects us all in whatever shape or form we come in. Be our home on land or in the seas it affects us all.

Signed from email and shared on FB and tweeted. No one can imagine the horror, not until it because their own life. Friends, neighbors and family lying dead in the street. Food and water shortages, and yes, food is on the ground, but because of the flooding and damage it's difficult for the charities to get this food and water where it is needed. I saw earlier that people are coming to the air port to carry food and water on their backs.

This is not matter of which crisis is worse, just which crisis is happening right now.

Please find a charity and give any amount!

This "once in a century" storm is just a symptom and it is not a once in a century thing at all. That scientists who hold to strict standards of actual, verifiable, reproducible proofs and experiments virtually ALL agree climate change is real and here NOW, yet all we have is politicians talking and 1%er's obfuscating is where the real problem lies. We all know this is here, we read the effects and the horror stories in the paper and the media every day and still no action, though science now thinks that we may have passed the tipping point, and if we have, we are on our way out anyway. But no remedial action is being taken. No mitigating action is being taken. Just talk. And that path will kill us all. We can't afford the aftermath of these superstorms and they are going to keep coming at us until we are gone, or our poor descendants are. Talk is cheap, action is not, but that is certainly less expensive than rebuilding after another once in a century storm. And rebuilding in the same places that will be hit again and again borders on lunacy in my opinion. Our leaders have failed this world miserably in this, as well as others, critical area. It is so sad, it need not have happened and would not had we valued people over dollars. Those who COULD try to affect change are still just piling up their money and paying hacks to smear the truth as lies. Maybe we deserve what we get, we are the ones who keep voting fools into office and allowing the 1% to run roughshod over the planet and us too.

Certainly Kit and thanks for the reminder. If you are uncertain how to donate CNN left a lot of links of which I'll give a hotlink to below.
Where To Donate

I wonder if some of the 1% can afford to give up a dinner or two and donate some funds. Their policies and their lavish lifestyles are the greatest contributors to this mess.

ALL the Islands and Island Nations are now at GREAT RISK. Cuba, for one. Haiti - ALL Islands. It is just a question of time, where the next "hit" will be.

And these people have done NOTHING to "deserve" this.....
It is the BIG, RICH countries who have done this; and, hey, WE COULD CARE LESS about those poor people, often indigenous tribes or descended from them, and they are brown-skinned and "less civilized" and, again, POOR - could be eliminated from the Planet, and it wouldn't affect the Rich People one bit...
That is what it is heading for.

The Island Nations could be "cleared" of Native populations, become fancy vacation resorts for the Rich, who would then zoom out fast in their private airplanes whenever they had Early Warnings of the next Typhoon - come back and rebuild their fancy-schmancy vacation cabins later, just part of their leisure fun activities...

Another example is the Maldives, without a major storm they are now trying to find a place to relocate the citizens. The Maldives is but a symptom of what will be happening to islands and coastal areas.

For those able to make a donation-even a small one- here's another VERY WORTHY opportunity by FOE (friends of the earth, CC only, no PayPal provided) :
Stand with Yeb.

Give what you spend on food in a day to feed typhoon survivors in the Philippines.

All donations will be directed to Friends of the Earth Philippines and their relief efforts. They are directing relief funds to the indigenous peoples on islands beyond the reach of many of the larger relief efforts.

By working with groups on the ground in remote areas, Friends of the Earth Philippines is making sure that donations reach the communities that are most inaccessible, invisible to mainstream media, or absent in the general public's consciousness.

My heart breaks for all the people there, the devastation would is unbelievable, even with the pictures in front of my eyes. I wonder if his hunger strike will have any effect on the diplomats there to "talk". ('Cause it seems like talking is all they ever do!) When I see American politicians "crying" I think-crocodile tears, I admit I feel cynical about their sincerity When Yeb Sano cried I cried with him. He deserves all our support, and we need many more like him..

I wanted to add that it's not too late to mitigate the worst of the effects for the majority of the planet. We can't let that hopelessness take over, that's what those rich corporate dirty energy company ba****ds want us to do!! We have to tell ourselves that we won't let them win---and then make it so!

Oh I know you did Angelika, I'm speaking to others who randomly find the thread or who might not normally do so. Climate affects all of us and all of our causes we are passionate over, this is the KEY to all life, so our issues all hinge on this. It matters not how many whales, elephants, or gay rights issues we stand up for, if we have not a planet that will not support life.

These most certainly 3/4 million signatures no doubt will serve to comfort and move Jeb Sano and all Filipinos, showing the world's solidarity, but they will not impact the outcome of that conference I'm afraid. It's been suffering a deadlock over finances and I don't see how all the countries' ministers arriving only now will change that.

This one petition just reached 59,000 while the other will hit the 695,000 mark in minutes. Altogether these over 3/4 million signatures will certainly please Jeb Sano, but at the same time disappoint him, the people of the Philippines and the whole world that much more when decisionmakers will still not listen to the voices.

I can hardly think of a more outrageous and perverse action than the decision of the Polish government to host a "Coal and Climate Summit", organised by the World Coal Association (!!) parallel to the UN meeting.

I signed one and it had 750,000 on it and I can't remember how many were on the other one. But 1m is not out of the question. Have signed and shared every petition that is on this thread! Spreading like wild fire!! This is fantastic!! Hope it keeps growing to where the politicians CANNOT IGNORE IT ANYMORE!!
Thanks, Kit, Dandelion and Angelika!!! What a fantastic movement!!
Carry on, my sisters!!

The conference ends TODAY.. Polish time zone..both petitions have slowed down a lot over the past 2 days and as it looks now, by the time for delivery to the negotiators will not quite reach 1 m both together, but perhaps may stay open even after the COP 19 has ended.
No idea what Vivian saw there, must have confused perhaps with the "smaller" petitions GOAL of 75.000 ?
