I came across this article quite by chance. I'll leave it up to the reader on how they may feel about this. Have you ever wished you could have experienced what it was like to go down on the sinking Titanic? Now soon you'll be able to experience it.

Once upon a time I was a seaman, but I'm grateful for not having experienced what it's like to go down on a sinking ship!

If people want that "near-death experience" feeling, why not just hop the fence of the lion enclosure at the zoo? It would be cheaper. Leave it to the Chinese to take poor taste to galactic levels.

This is an insult to those people who lost their lives on the Titanic! A memory of disaster made into a money grab is all it is! What a disgrace!!

Absolutely thought for family members of those lost. It's making fun of a tragic incident.

Just goes to show once again that there is no end to the depravity that mankind will engage in for the sake of money. And you can bet there will be plenty of twisted minds that will want to experience it. The ultimate stupidity. Take that money and clean up your frickin country, feed and care for your elderly folks and crack down on black market happenings instead. Disgusting.

More bread and circuses from an entertainment sort of angle. There is a new growth of tourist experiences of all sorts of things such as a deadly tornado and other disasters that has been cropping up lately, so I guess some Chinese are as curious about the scarier side of disaster as others are. However, that being said, those who go to these events have one luxury, in that they will all escape alive. Those encountering the real life disasters be it the Titanic or an F-5 tornado do not always escape with their lives. It is merely a make believe and let's pretend sort of experience of what some will spend their money on.

One thing for certain, I imagine such activities are rather expensive and most of the rest of us will pick a walk in the national parks or something a wee bit less dangerous to relax in.

Thanks Dandelion for the link to the article from Ms. Gastaldo. Interesting, but I rather ride a roller coaster :)
Read and noted.

I can't say I've ever wanted to know what it felt like to go down on the sinking Titanic. I don't know why anyone would. Using a tragedy like the sinking of the Titanic to create a thrill-ride experience is like building an amusement park over a burial ground. I'll pass on that one.

Thanks Sheryl. I can't say I'd ever want to visit it. I have the movie and book by James Cameron and that will be enough for me. I wish China would use the money for real worthwhile causes, or maybe they think this will create some weird tourism?

O.....M.....D!!!!! Well, they took to Fascism with relish, did they not? How demeaning to the memory of those who lost their lives on that ship. Want a near-death experience.......go boil yourselves in a big pot of DOG SOUP, see how you like being boiled alive.....but they won't, that's a little too close to home for them. Disgusting.

If they want to spend a boatload of money (pun intended) to give folks a thrill, they might consider cleaning up the air in their major cities so they don't have to evacuate the children every couple of months. If I were Chinese, being able to breathe would just thrill the heck of me.

China keeps getting MORE INSANE by the minute! I have seen entire cities built in China, to bring in tourism for whatever reason or another that sit desolate. Billions and Billions for what?
THIS IS THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL DISGRACE to the memories of the 1,500 people who lost their lives. I suppose my reaction is this is the poorest taste and not for me under any circumstances.
Thank you Dandelion and allowing my little rant!

Ermahgerd, who would want a near death or drowning experience. Silly question, this will make money.

Noted. Well, I tell ya. Statements of its being a wonderful opportunity to experience some kind of human spirit and folks suffering it together are just bogus. If China, who is now talking about filing bankruptcy, wants to build this thing, it's just another surprise from their ranks. I don't think it's worthy of much attention, frankly.

They're obviously getting water and air confused-we know WHAT a Chinese "7 star ENERGY investment group" could do with their money! hell, even buying breathing masks for the poeple would be a better investment.

So very true. No they'd rather terrify the people one way or another and make money off of it while doing so.

Noted, but not shared. I agree with most here that this is distasteful in more ways than one. Just imagine what could be done with the money that is being wasted on this stupid theme park. I doubt they expect their own people to keep it afloat and making money. No, they expect this to bring in mucho tourist dollars or euros. I hope that backfires on them. Disgusting.

This is what billions of dollars are spent on, so many important causes and problems in this world, which require money to be solved, what a waste for such a cheap thrill...

such humanitarians!!

Loved the sarcasm!

A fascination with DEATH perhaps China??

This is as ridiculous as this guy who is building an experience in his back yard of being buried...
You get in a coffin and are lowered and covered..such FUN!!

Egads, hadn't heard that one. Some people have a warped sense of "fun".
