American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004. If all votes were counted we'd not have George Bush for President, Iraq War, Supreme Court would be different. Please vote be involved.

If all of the votes have been counted in Florida and if all of the African American had the opportunity to cast a vote, George Bush would have never been President of the United States.

We wouldn't be involved in a war in Iraq and the makeup of the Supreme Court would be different. Many have heard of the alleged voting irregularities that occurred during the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004.

These incidents have gone under- reported and are commonly written-off as insignificant rumors or unintentional mishaps resulting from an overburdened election system.

American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 while following the story of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney.

With elections upcoming in the United States it's an important film to watch.......

Thanks Dandelion--will watch when I have an hour and a half without expected interruption. I agree this is something we need to know, remember and ensure we get our votes cast and counted to help offset any who might not have the chance even in places where we might feel it won't make a difference (either due to confidence in all our preferences or the reverse). And if we have time, to help GOTV efforts where it looks pretty tied or tight to help make a difference.

Politicians, in general, cannot be trusted; and, the Teapublican, GOP has executed a lack of trust, masterfully. Lying and deceit are not considered corrupt and/or sinful.
It has become a part of the political system.

A conservative once asked me, what I felt was more important ~ Equality or Justice?
After a minute of consultation with myself. I easily answered, EQUALITY, of course.
He tried to argue that 'justice' was higher on the list of priorities.
My answer to him was, justice is not definitive. Everyone's form of justice is different.

As Americans we ALL should be alarmed by what is offered in this video. If we understand what is taking place we can also add our voices to share this information and to become part of the solution and not to remain part of the problem via the fact we don't understand what is going on.

Sorry Angelika you couldn't view it, I had put some highlights on the send out message to my connected friends, you might get a general over all sense of what the film was about. As well as the graphics I sent, Jim Crow, is a term known by many people I believe in the USA. If you google it there should be information on it. Hence why the film is titled American BLACKout. It hurts us all when all voices are not being heard.

Thanks. Have shared the film with others on Pinterest & Facebook. SIGH...It galls me the number of Americans who do not believe this is true.

Same here. In this case, ignorance is not bliss. We suffer for it. Thanks for doing your part in trying to present the information to others.

Noted. Thanks for posting, Dandelion. Will definitely share this. While this is quite plain to many of us, most people are unaware of what is taking place. A real travesty.

I watched the movie. Although I already knew much of the information, I had not known about every provisional ballot in Georgia needing to be cleared by the Secretary of State. Jim Crow has indeed been replaced by James Crow, Esquire.

The question is ~ how do we fix it?
If we are not able to get people out to vote, our problem will continue.
The Teapublicans are here to stay, that is, as long as the uneducated, uninformed people persist in voting against their own interests and keep these lunatics in office. Of course, we can't forget about the GOP legislators who are fearful of them. Actually, the Republican Party had better take action to rid them from their party, or all the _old-time_ conservatives will be replaced.

We fix it by doing like we are you say, uninformed people vote against their own interest.

It is therefore important that we learn, we share information with others as I've placed on here, and that people share the links or videos with others and encourage them also to learn.

As the people learn and the information among them grows I believe that things will change. One of us alone is not able to bring about this change, however all of us together can and will. So be it on C2 or other places we are out there doing our best. People are meeting in groups on and off C2, various churches are doing things I know our Church has a great social justice program whereby we bring knowledge to the community at large. I believe as people grow in numbers they will force change and claw back. It isn't going to happen overnight but it will happen, I see the conversation changing even from a few years ago.

Older video, but still timely with the coming election. !!!VOTE!!!

I hadn't seen this before, and while I knew quite a bit and believed the elections in 2000 and 2004 were tampered with enough to have probably cost Democrats victory, there was still much background and new information in this that was learned. The documentary itself is very well produced and directed. It rekindles all the old outrage and frustration felt back then, as well as the feelings of disenfranchisement and depression. It may not have been my vote that wasn't counted, but if other folks who vote as I do aren't having their votes counted or being discouraged from voting, it is disenfranchising me, too.

That's why I found the poor showing of Democratic votes in Congress for an investigation into voting irregularities after 2004 that was shown in the film so appalling and bewildering.

Dandelion, if they had counted the Florida votes in 2000 I suspect we would never have had a 911.

Either way the supreme court failed us by ruling, "Stop counting the votes."

Correct Don, it was a coup from many levels, and the Supreme Court is still failing us.
