Pressured By Big Utilities, Florida The Sunshine State Ends Solar Incentive

With its legendary sunny climate, it's perfectly positioned to generate much of its power from solar energy. However State regulators approved proposals to gut Florida's energy-efficiency goals by more than 90 percent and to terminate solar rebate program

And we call Florida the Sunshine State. More evidence that its residents tend to run towards crazy - in a bad way. Prosecuting a man for feeding the homeless - what else is there? One would think that Florida residents would be totally behind solar! Once again, it all boils down to filthy lucre and greed.

They get so much sunshine, and they turn away from solar energy? What a bad joke and a big mistake!

This is what happens when the people voted in Tea Bag Governor Rick Scott. Some people really do drink the kool aid. It also helps when elections are tainted by voter suppression, confusion, lies, faulty equipment (gee it was only in the heavy Democrat area) and the margin of winning was by only 1%.

I live in Florida, I'm absolutely DISGUSTED! I will continue to do my part and already have by getting letters off to the heads of State and the Public Service Commission.

It doesn't have anything to do with the Repub. The Electric Co just doesn't want anybody reducing their profit

I realize that, and the Green Tea Party is fighting this as well. However, I know that Rick Scott is buddies with the Gov. in NC and we got pushed to take in Duke Energy and now that Dirty Duke is here, their clout is enormous. A Republican led the way.

Repub's in Florida aren't any smarter than ours in Nebraska. Big money rules. Thanks Dandelion.

I was lucky to get a rebate for my solar water heater in Florida a bunch of years ago and it has dropped my electricity bill substantially but soon afterwards the rebate program got canned.
Sad when $$$ from lobbyists talks louder than common sense and the environment.

I know the link below is from December 2014, and as far as I know, couldn't pass the Duke Energy Bought legislature of Florida. But the good news here is that there is a new push to divide and hold the PSC more accountable, since the PSC is nothing more than a shill of the energy companies and the rich cronies that ruin this state. The PSC has never gone under such fire as recently, and I believe in the near future, it will have its feet in flames. I know that Gainesville is considering starting it's own PSC to combat GRU's B.S. Here's the link:
