Tax Wall Street to Support Main Street - Petition

Business  (tags: Tax, Wall Street, Main Street, close loopholes, help working families )

- 1618 days ago -
Close tax loopholes that benefit the one percent and impose new fees on Wall Street high rollers to pay for new tax credits for working families. The proposal would shift a whopping $1.2 trillion from the one percent to working families next 10 years.

Signed! Commented: For years I worked in Economic Development. I regret it all now. I helped create this economy dominated by greedy super-wealthy people and very low wage workers. I am ashamed I did not foresee the results economic policies by states and local governments to subsidize corporations.

Signed and noted. This isn't shifting money from them, it's sharing some of the profits they make from the money they use belonging to us already.

You got that one correct Gregory.

Kathryn, a lot of things were done in stages, most had slick PR presentations that made it look that what was being done was going to be beneficial to all. Not everyone has the full insight to see beyond and down the road and when we are concentrating on our small part of the whole it isn't always seen at the time how it all fits into a sinister plan. That you at least recognized it and is helping today to unravel this mess is commendable on your part. Too many will never admit to a mistake and keep defending it long afterwards. By being on here you are at least trying to correct this mistake afterwards.

Unlike some, I don't believe for one minute that Wall Street will stop operating and/or fall apart, if they must start paying their 'fair share.
It must be nice to write tax law that benefits yourself. This is what the wealthy have done, over and over, again. Why have we put up with it?

One thing that makes absolutely no sense is the TEAPUBLICAN COMEDY CLUB followers being angry with the middle and especially, the lower classes.
The upper 1-2% are the members of society who are ripping off the majority of our citizens, through numerous loopholes in the tax system.
When Mitt Romney pays 7-8% in taxes, that we know of, and won't even release most of his tax records, he and his cohorts pay a lower percentage than the average American. What is wrong with people, that they think this is acceptable?

Presidents Reagan's and Bush's attempt to enrich the wealthy was a huge success, as we are learning more and more of the faltering statistics regarding our fellow citizens.
What even the wealthy appear not to comprehend, is that this cannot go on much longer, if you want a successful society.
Let's face it my friends, we have been 'patsies' (willing victims).

Well a lot of people Charlie drank the Kool Aid and bought into the sales pitch which has them looking for the few dollars their neighbor "might" of gotten that they shouldn't of on Food Stamps or some rental assistance. For the few that are fraudulent, the majority of the people are not and truly NEED that assistance.....and as a humane society.....we use to pride ourselves on have a "safety net".

However, any fraud is small potatoes via Food Stamps and the other Safety Net Programs as compared to the Subsidizing of the 1% and even the Middle Class in certain things, although that is being chipped away at too. For me, sure, I wish that someone who was scamming the system didn't get that $400 in Food Stamps, however I'm more concerned about the Criminals that are stealing the millions out of every worker there is by not paying them living wages, by not paying them for all hours worked, by exploiting workers overseas rather than paying us a decent wage within safe working conditions. The fact that they've had ALEC write the rules to their benefits and against ours.....and that the tax system is skewed only for the well to do. As Warren Buffet had mentioned.....he pays less of a percentage than his Secretary......he even knows it's wrong but it's legal.

But the Corporate have the Media......they have the microphone......they have the money to push THEIR own message and have the people confused, divided and looking in all the wrong places. Taking the light off of their own folly that is actually squeezing us to death while slicing the throats of those who have done no harm to the people and just trying to survive this mess that the Oligarchy has created.
