Chevron is selling treated oil field wastewater to the state which in turn is being used for irrigation on crops. Analysis of water tested revealed high levels of dangerous chemicals acetone and methylene chloride. In our food and risk to farm workers.

California can expect no help from Washington to bring transparency to the oil industry. Earlier this year, for example, the Senate voted to keep the so-called “Halliburton loophole” open. That legislation specifically prevents the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating fracking or requiring permits for companies to engage in the controversial oil extraction method.

Nearly unbelievable--and wish we didn't have to believe it---blocking the EPA from regulating fracking----and no permit needed---some folks got their palms greased!!! Hope they can sleep nights and not be jostled to by nightmares of Earth and all that lives dying, so they can prosper. I can't say they'll live long and prosper--because I think they'll be hoisted by their own petard---Noted and noted and noted--thank you again, Dandelion for yet another critical issue you bring to the fore.

You have to wonder what kind of crap is in that water. They have no business selling back that water unless they have cleaned it properly, and then only at cost!

Noted. While this is horrible and shocking, at least new fracking disclosure rules will be in effect in CA on June 15. When it is learned exactly what chemicals are being added, hopefully more tough rules will be enacted. Californians and anyone who eats food grown there will be attentive to this and not let this issue rest. It does seem that more and more are becoming aware and concerned about what they eat.

With a heart of tears, thank you Dandelion. For those who know me I've been a RABID Environmentalist beginning 1970. I've been screaming at the top of my lungs for so long that I have no more words about this CRIME other than anger and I won't "Go There". I've been a gardener, small farmer, and gardener once again due to my 'circumstances' since I was in middle school. In 70 I had the most BRILLIANT professor who taught me everything that is and has been occurring and I'm proud to say NEVER once used chemicals. As a CA. resident I've watched this H2o CRISIS far more than the "4 year drought".
I'm not religious at all, but my mantra is, "It's a sin to waste one grain of rice or one drop of H2o". My latest (ane last car due to $) is 11 years old with less then 30K-, for obvious reasons. Wherever I resided I REFUSED to back the (carbon) big Oil. I suppose I am just wired that way as I have had many opportunities to travel, but said NO! Before I quote the words in this tread that make me crazy I'd like to thank a few for their words.

PUBLIC STARS to these, privately:)

“All these chemicals of concern are flowing in the irrigation canal,” said Water Defense’s chief scientist Scott Smith, in an interview with ThinkProgress. “If you were a gas station and were spilling these kinds of chemicals into the water, you would be shut down and fined.”

I've been screaming at the top of my lungs for so long that I have no more words about this CRIME other than anger, and I won't "Go There". At least I'll try. I've been a gardener, small farmer, and gardener once again (due to my living circumstances), since I was in middle school. In 1970 I had the most BRILLIANT professor, who taught me everything that is TRUTH, and has been occurring every day through the eyes I was shown. I'm not a Religious woman, but my mantra is, "It's a sin to waste one grain of rice or one drop of H2o". IF ONLY EVERYONE HAD THE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION I HAD. That's unfair, as it was so powerful at such a young age I knew it to be FACT. Try explaining that to anyone, especially if their Heart and Soul is more logical than mine. This topic is more painful than if I were lying in blood, with the most pain one could endure.

I suppose I am just wired that way as I have had many opportunities to travel, but said NO! My father was a pilot and I still feel guilty for the enormous traveling the world I did by the time I finished high school. I still hold that guilt and would rather do without then leave ANY footprint, other than extreme emergency. Before I quote the words in this tread that make me crazy I'd like to thank a few for their words.

Thanks for your passion Susanne and for everyone else's comment. Indeed, the local farmers markets I go to here in Florida are looking better all the time. CA farmers will shoot themselves in their foot if this becomes more known. Is better to scale down their farms and use proper water than to use contaminated water. Again as the article said:

“All these chemicals of concern are flowing in the irrigation canal,” said Water Defense’s chief scientist Scott Smith, in an interview with ThinkProgress.

“If you were a gas station and were spilling these kinds of chemicals into the water, you would be shut down and fined.”

The new fracking disclosure rules of June 15th can't go in quickly enough. But does it cover both gas and oil?

Please excuse my double LONG post. I assure you it was due to computer problems, as well as my apparent ignorance on how to get things in order. I checked, re-checked, and re-checked again as I would never have posted this. Please, forgive me.

"The new fracking disclosure rules of June 15th can't go in quickly enough. But does it cover both gas and oil?" Please share if you dig into this, as I'm sure you will. Good question!!!

Done. Maximum profit while reducing global population by any means necessary by 2025 up to and inclusive of 90% of the population. So, in other words they will destroy the aquifers; the oceans and lakes; destroy soil content through GMOs and pesticides; frack the hell out of the environment; sell contaminated water along with vaccines designed to reduce global population [Bill Gates said vaccines are a great way to reduce global population and he also owns a huge bloc of Monsanto shares] and replace rainforests with palm oil plantations. They will employ and deploy anything that allows them to accomplish this while maintaining maximum profit. Have another condo complex Mildred.

Horrifying Vision for the world and that is why WE MUST change the Vision. People have to realize that being the meek and polite ones with the onslaught is not going to save their butts. We certainly will keep trying with petitions and asking for sanity to come into the various Leaders to stand up for the correct Vision, but when push comes to shove.....humanity will have to stand up to those who are doing it in or perish.

Do you think that when this new regulation in CA is in effect and when they will have found out exactly what's in that potion they sell as "water", that YOU will learn it? Good luck waiting for the next leak on this another murder piece! Officials will most likely NOT tell you.
