Stand With 93 Year Old Mattie Jackson Community Hero

Society & Culture  (tags: petition, Mattie Jackson, 93 year old, community hero, Atlanta, Georgia, Turner Field, Atlanta Braves, pond )

- 1383 days ago -
Building a pond is not the only solution to a floodplain that was created by laying down too much parking lot around Turner Field, where the Atlanta Braves Play. I am a staple of my community and my neighbors and I are being forced out with nowhere to go.

This is unacceptable. The Urban Design Commission, the City, and the team can come up with a solution; e.g., do it on the Turner Field property.

A similar thing is happening in Oregon where people are being jailed for using their own land as they see fit. Simply sickening! Noted and signed.

Noted---and this is a blatant display of the fact that our rights, freedoms are not defended, honored, protected. There must be some lawyers who'd come forward to demand they be, out of a sense of moral civic duty---and free publicity----each time the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are ignored. This angers, makes you nauseated and it's frightening that the powers that be feel they can be so overt in their allegedly criminal,, illegal actions---ruining and taking lives of American citizens. We do note that it's rarely the rich or powerful. I guess, to those who have tuxedos, gowns, tiaras, top hats, badges, we're just a bunch of old, brown shoes that need to be destroyed. Thanks Dandelion.

What they are doing to this dear Lady is terrible. But it is typical of the local officious idiots every where they make the mistakes , then the people suffer for it. I wish that i could have signed the petition but it asks for a zip code Which as i am in the u.k. i do not have.

At age 93 this dear lady should be able to rest and enjoy her home, not now dealing with the fight of a lifetime on her hands.

No respect anymore for anyone.

Signed. Drainage is a big problem in Puerto Rico too. It's the same old story: big construction projects are deemed as "progress" and anyone who foresees problems is called names. Then when consequences follow as they will, it's the working class who suffers them. Big money is already elsewhere doing the same thing again.

Dandelion I agree wholeheartedly ... there is NO RESPECT any more !
Mattie Jackson has devoted her life to serving her community!
Shame on the Urban Design Commission for considering displacing this 93 year old woman and her neighbours from their historic homes !
I wonder if these people were white and not black, would that make 'the' difference ... something tells me if that were the case we wouldn't even be having this conversation !!!!!!!!

The Braves are going to move to another stadium northwest of Atlanta in just a few years. What's the point of the flood pond, anyway? And why have they waited until now to decide they need it? Geez, Turner Field has been around 20 years. Atlanta's city planners can come up with a much better solution that doesn't involve robbing people of their rightful property.

4846 out of 5000. Hoping this goal will be met very soon, as I cannot believe the inability to show respect, in this ladies situation. It is time for these companies to do the right thing!
