Jeff Wood is Scheduled for Execution on August 24, 2016 Legal experts say his case is rare, even in Texas, the execution capital of America. A state that allows capital punishment for people who did not kill anyone or did not intend to kill.

Thanks Kalliope, but she didn't even sign the petition, just collected the butterflies, without even trying to do anything to help this man from being executed.

Because she has been trolling and leaving comments that either have nothing to do with the story or are hateful in nature, yes I said she is causing herself to have a bad reputation on C2. Everyone can read these comments and there are a lot of people feeling as I am. As one can see by what she did here, she confirms my point.

Is about time, if they consider all life should only be removed by Gods hands then this State sponsored death penalty needs to go. They stand up for the unborn yet allow the already living to be executed, in fact this man who is mentally challenged and didn't murder anyone.

I'd also like to start seeing them be more involved in the Peace Movement to stop these endless wars.

The declared murderer was already executed. This makes no sense to kill a mentally disabled human for being in a place he was lured to by a criminal. The Death Penalty is murder - Ban It

I would hope that MORE friends here have or will SEND that email to the addresses already provided! (TX Gov. + Parole board)
No problem to read, copy/paste and slightly edit that text provided by the change.org petition!
As my example shows they don't flat out delete but at least accept the messages!
Signing the petition is one thing, shouldn't be all, tho.

I had done the same, and yes, only took a short time to try to save the life of a man who had never killed yet is going to be murdered by the State. This is a slippery slope and very dangerous as it opens the door to more of it.

Many times there is the "next" step that can be taken beyond learning of the information or signing these petitions. Steps can come in many ways, a follow up email, a snail mail letter, a telephone call, informing others, joining a group for greater strength, if one lives nearby forming vigils, passing out information, and certainly banding together to rid ourselves of these people that pass these laws all the time that hurt more than help.

UPDATE on the article the Visit Site attaches to.......

Republican Texas State Rep. Leach Tries to Stop Jeff Wood’s Execution
August 18, 2016

It’s not often that a staunch conservative loses sleep over imposition of the death penalty, but state Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, says he is up nights over the impending execution of Jeff Wood.

The two-term legislator has spent the past week poring over court documents and speaking with the governor’s office and Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, hoping to prevent what would be the state’s seventh execution of the year. Wood is set to die by lethal injection Aug. 24.

“I simply do not believe that Mr. Wood is deserving of the death sentence,” Leach told the Tribune. “I can’t sit quietly by and not say anything.”

Thx Sheryl for update. Still confused tho, was that just a stay of 6 days or what? or perhaps that date Aug 18 just belongs to the article and headline there on top? Can't tell as no link' given. But, good on Leach, that IS rare indeed and perhaps only b/c this time it isn't a black man?!
