Why They Are Staying

If my president asked me to do something, I think I would start moving my stuff out of the way. That they have not suggests to me that they have no intention of going anywhere. They will just push through and pay fines said Melanie Schure, water protector

I know many are aware by now about the ruling by the Army Corp of Engineers via the Obama Administration and you may know that Energy Transfer is going nowhere and willing to pay the fine to keep drilling.

However this was a good article that allowed some of the Water Protectors to speak about the issue as well as having some photographs that bring the experience of what they are dealing with to the public eye. This certainly isn't a picnic and takes endurance to be part of this group who will remain steadfast. They have my upmost respect.

Thanks Dandelion--this article is indeed a better summary than most about what it is all about and the future, et al.

Action request email:
"Contrary to what you may have heard, the Army Corps' December 4 Decision did not put a stop to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) or its placement at Lake Oahe.

Waterkeeper Alliance General Counsel & Legal Director Daniel E. Estrin lays out exactly what legal steps must be taken for us to win the #NoDAPL fight. Read his full analysis here.

How can you help right now? Formally changing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) status of DAPL is the single most important thing we can do! Write to President Obama and respectfully request:

That the Army Corps make a formal finding pursuant to NEPA that DAPL does have potential to result in significant environmental impacts.
That the Army Corps immediately issue a legally binding order withdrawing the Environmental Assessment (EA), retracting the Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI), and requiring the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project.

This will help ensure that a valid NEPA EIS will be prepared, and that all of the potential impacts to human health and the environment will be carefully considered, before any final decision is made to approve or disapprove authorization for DAPL to cross the Missouri River."

I'm glad they're staying, and yes, they have my utmost respect as well. The legal twists and turns are sometimes hard to untangle, but we must all stay on top of the situation because the pipeline company isn't backing down.

True heroes to stick it out in a blizzard. Had there been videos, internet communication back in the 1930's would people have been able to "ignore" the Holocaust as happening?
Standing Rock is not a sit com happy ending...it is true reality...not a "Trumped up" for ratings event.
We either acknowledge injustices are occurring here at home and do something or go slink into the family room and zone out with "dancing with the stars".

They must be held accountable for their actions. Please watch and share Josh Fox’s reporting for Now This on the North Dakota police. Let everyone know the fight to protect our first amendment rights to peaceful protest and free press continues.

It was a couple days old but it still was pertinent and I must sneak articles on when I get a chance from a busy offline life.

Indeed, for those who mentioned the photos and the video, those alone show what these water protectors are dealing with and their determination. They have my respect. I just hope a few more people can take a few minutes and educate themselves and sign some petitions between having their nice ice cold beer or a hot tea within their warm homes. Remember both those are made with water, something these people are fighting for so we all may have those beverages to enjoy.

The monster is never dead until it is REALLY dead. We will have to inflict a lot more grievous wounds on the Black Snake before we can pronounce it dead for good. Nevertheless, the champagne is chilling.

Sheryl G (359)
Saturday December 17, 2016, 6:45 pm
I'd say for as long as need be. This is an issue beyond Standing Rock and they know it, it has to do with the water of 18 million people, the water that irrigates 1/3 of all our crops for the USA, and it has to do with global warming.

Until the masses by the millions wake up and start to come alive on this, then it needs STRESSING......

This is for Margie, and everyone else. . . . HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO PROTECT A LOVED ONE, A CHILD, in terms of nurturing them. . . .?

The answer to that should be obvious. If it's not, you've lost the plot.
