Children in charter schools Black, brown, Latino, LGBTQ, and children with disabilities are over disciplined in rates even significantly higher than they are in public schools. We need to get cops out of schools. We need to invest in our public education

Of course. A tyranny cannot afford to have educated citizens. The fat cats are looking for a steady supply of slave labor so they can keep their profits sky-high. Have they ever wondered what will happen when nobody can buy their goods, no matter how cheap?

Meanwhile, break out the pitchforks and torches. And pussy hats.

Autocrats don't like dissent. . . I think you're missing a point. . . people power trumps that one. . . people stop working, industry stops. . . . your average autocrat is rendered impotent.

We continue to share the alternative news over social media, people get more informed. Autocrats rely on an uninformed public.

Question is, David C. what are YOU going to do. . .?

SHARED news article over social media to raise and spread THAT awareness.

I think that is what Dave was meaning that the 1% doesn't like a "thinking public" because they would vote correctly.

I hate to put words in someone else's mouth, but that is how I interrpreted what he wrote. Sorry Dave if I'm wrong.

Freya says it all. It is shameful how our children are being brainwashed by the 1% in order to be their slaves. Thanks for sharing Dandelion.

Private schools have been around longer than I ever heard the term charter schools. Is education better at private schools? I can't say for sure since I went to public school as did my sons. I don't have any problem with private schools. I do take issue with private schools getting public funds that should be going to public schools. Imagine what the public schools could do if they were well funded. How about a lower student to teacher ratio? No more program cutting because the budget has been cut once again. With a decent budget districts can hire well qualified teachers. With smaller class sizes, there are fewer distractions and students will learn more readily.

Mrs. DeVos supports private schools because her children went to private schools and got a good education. Whether you call them charter schools or private schools, they should not get public money.

Well, if private schools work for the few, they can work for the majority. . .

If parents want their children to go to a private school they should pay the costs,it's far better to use public funds on public schools.

I'm with Arild. Private schools are fine if you want religious indoctrination, etc. But..we need public schools with the best possible education for all children...not just those of the ''elite."

This is what DeVos is all about, she wants to send taxpayer money into religious schools so they can teach the "science and history" out of the Bible.

I've no doubt that that science and history within the Bible, is going to be a distorted literal interpretation of the texts as well. The way that Corporate Capitalism is heading is the exact opposite of any genuine teaching of Spirituality or Religion. The bottom line in Corporate Capitalism is profit at any cost.
