awful, and my suspicion is that should so-called 45 or VP Pence face any potential calls for resignation or impeachment the administration will find a war to create or escalate or a terrorist attack to allow........so as to say you can't be a good American if you don't support the administration

" In order to hold its position over the long term, they would have to extend their borders significantly, most likely towards Turkey. Turkey clearly sees this implication, and is not pleased. Turkey obviously isn’t concerned about violating Syria’s sovereignty, but they view any move that strengthens the Kurds as a potential threat."

This is a part of the big problem, two Nato Allies,Turkey and USA are seeking different solutions of how to deal with Raqqa and defeating ISIL.

WHEN are governments & their military going to realise that they shouldn't do ANYTHING on the ground until they've worked out all possible scenarios arising from their interventions - and also worked out detailed plans on how to de-escalate for the follow up according to which scenario develops in response ...

Because all these civilian lives being lost are hardly going to endear the US -
They just provide fodder that the Daesh manipulators leap out to grab & use, thus aggravating situations

Thanks, Dandelion

Evelyn,

The type of "connecting the dots" or "joined up thinking" about the consequences of actions, NEVER takes place with these aggressors and power-possessors.

Darren -
Bear in mind that the lobbies with the strongest voices are connecting the dots on a very different picture to the one WE are looking at!

Their dots are on a picture that resembles mountains ... the sales chart !!!

And the "peace" lobbies don't have the same influence on those who are SUPPOSED to be representing the demos ... and looking at a picture that is much broader than profits projections :>(

Evelyn,
Yes.
War remains a very lucrative business. . . . that mindset and attitude needs to change.

I totally agree about the need to change the mindset!

But ("hanging my head") I have to admit that when I think of those who pad their bank accounts by promoting wars to sell more military equipment, I come close to being tempted by the idea of buying a weapon - to wipe THEM out!!!!

Thanks Dandelion for sharing the link to the informative article. Scary and I hear that Gen. General Mattis, Secretary of Defense. is pushing Trump for boots on the ground.
