Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are the super-rich guys. Anyone tracking the growing concentration of wealth can tell you the rich are getting richer.

This report comes as Congress considers passing the Trump tax cuts, a plan that would surely increase the wealth divide. It also comes in the wake of the Paradise Papers, a sensational story showcasing the pervasive impact of offshore tax shelters on the country’s wealthiest households and corporations.

We know for sure that the numbers we publish in our report understate the wealth of those at the top since money hiding in tax shelters is, by its nature, hidden. We’re hopeful that this report can serve to provide a deeper understanding of wealth inequality in the United States today and inspire activists, academics, lawmakers, and citizens to work for change.

Shared news article and analysis over social media to raise and spread awareness, and if this doesn't pique more than a few, it'll be an indication of how conditioned we are into acceptance of a gross inequality.

Nothing new. Yet those are just the visible wealthy that got rich by working hard in the market. The real elites do not show up on Forbes richest list. They are the ones that hold the power, run the world's governments and central banks.

Yes Winn & Mandi, we need real tax reform and the GOP plan is just tweaks however major to a broken tax code. We should unite and push for a real progressive tax code like the FairTax.

Don't take this lying down. Grab the torches and pitchforks - figuratively, that is. Make sure you are registered to vote, make sure all your Progressive kith and kin are registered, then get your buns to the polls. This present election cycle, ending in November of 2018, is probably the last chance to turn this country around and restore the voice of Hoi Polloi in Washington - at least by peaceful means.

I'm not so sure why anybody has to be that rich. Even if I bought a winning lottery ticket and got millions of dollars in prize money, I wouldn't want it. I only need enough to meet my monthly expenses. But, first, I think I would pay off my ex's student loan debt. Since we live in Washington, and divorced more than ten years ago, close to 15 or 16 years, we were still married when he got his student loans. Washington state is a community property state, which means it is also a community debt state. I will never be able to pay the debt. My own student loan which I acquired about 10 years ago, well after we were divorced, was discharged due to disability. I would give money to the local animal rescues and the friends of the shelter group. Okay, maybe it would be nice to be a homeowner; but, never having been one, I'm not sure. Also, if I could get a house, it would not need to be a huge one, like Bill Gates mansion, 66,000 sq. ft. in Medina, WA. He calls it Xanadu 2.0. If you have read Citizen Kane, you might know the name Xanadu.

The wealthy should be paying more in taxes. They surely can afford it.

Money makes money, why this continues to surprise people is a mystery to me. These people all donate a great deal of money for the common good, and it is their money to do with as they like regardless of how the rest of us might spend it. My life is no worse off because there are super rich people in the world.

I disagree that our lives are no worse off because of super rich people in the world. The labor to make them rich was not paid what they should, why should people be living in poverty when they go to work each day? Don't tell me those who make money off of mining diamonds paid their help enough, nor the mark up on the diamonds to one person who sold them. Those who pick the food, package it, are not getting as much for the efforts as those who sell the food at a higher prices. These wealthy no longer even invest in job creation, they buy back their own shares and pass it to the shareholders who have done not a thing to make a company function, yet the workers who are answering the phones, cleaning the floors, and doing all the other day to day functions are struggling with the higher costs of everything. Nothing, not even an economy works well when it is out of balance.

The #GOPTaxScam is to ensure oligarchy rules and democracy dies in the USA. Citizens United was a bill specifically written by the Koch brothers to allow unlimited funding for political campaign contributions by the richest corporations. This allows them to place their chosen #GOPuppets to write laws that benefit the rich and take away the power of the people. They also wrote the wall that gutted the Voters Rights Act which now makes it legal for Republicans to suppress the votes of impoverished Americans who cannot afford to pay for state issued IDs.
Oligarchy is not democracy. It is fascism.
