All profits will go to Queerest of the Queer, a UK -based LGBT organization that supports transgender youth. The launch comes on the heels of criticism the company faced in September due to a fund-raising video in which cofounders offended transsexuals

It will be interesting to see how this is perceived in the UK.

The launch comes on the heels of criticism the company faced in September due to a fund-raising video in which cofounders James Watt and Martin Dickie parodied transgender women, sex workers, and the homeless. More than 25,000 people signed a petition asking the company to apologize and remove the ad, which it did not do.

Some critics feel that BrewDog’s latest venture does not make up for its past transgressions, with the company not only using the trans community as a marketing ploy but also lumping the entire transgender community together.

“The trans community is diverse—many trans people do not transition, or identify with binary genders, and BrewDog’s language undermines that,” a spokesperson from rights group Stonewall told The Independent. Taken from Article.

The Good and the Bad:

'While one might not think of beer as having a gender, a brewing company released the “world’s first non-binary transgender beer” this week.
BrewDog’s No Label beer is made with hops that changed from female to male before they were harvested.

“We have used these to emphasize that, just like humans, beer can be whatever the hell it wants to be, and proud of it,” the company wrote in an announcement. Typically, only female hops are used in the brewing process.

The beer itself is also a cross between two types, ale and lager, which the company says symbolizes those who “identify themselves in a similar ‘non-binary’ way.”

Customers can knock back a cold one at BrewDog’s new pub in London's Soho or order a case of the No Label beer online.
All profits will go to Queerest of the Queer, an U.K.-based LGBT organization that supports transgender youth.

Queerest of the Queer has defended BrewDog and their partnership.

“We don’t give you easy credits on your corporate social responsibility,” the organization wrote in a Facebook post. “So when BrewDog responded to our challenge to talk about their fundraising video and how they could seriously re-engage with and make amends to the LGBTQ+ community, they weren’t taking the easy track.”

Eh, I'd give 'em the Benefit of the Doubt, myself.... tho I don't drink beer!

They should think of names that cover it all, like "Hops On" and "Hops In" "High Hops", "Hops 2 It", "Freer Beer", "Homeless Foamless", "Transgender Bender", "Transgender Rear-ender", "Transgender Fender Bender",
"Old Folk's Foam", "Tail Ale", "Male Ale", "Fem Ale", "Fem-M Ale", "M-Ale", "Bi Rye Ale", "Meat Wheat Ale", "Binary Winery", "Brew 4 2", "Screw Brew". "Michael Fitzpatrick & Patrick Fitzmike Ale" Thanks BMutiny.

Having tasted some of Brew Dog's beers all I can remember was that I could not taste anything for three hours afterwards. It should be pointed out they also managed to send a case of beer to President Putin taking him to task about his homophobic attitudes, I guess the author of this article does not appreciate the subtly of Doric humor.

Well, I gather the - is it the oldest yew tree in England, or just a very very old one? - is growing branches with a sex change. Male to female as I recall. Plants of two sexes are not that rare in trees, especially evergreens (such as juniper). Hops I didn't know about but I can't be surprised.
