Early naturalists called the Great Horned Owl the 'winged tiger" or "tiger of the air' because of its ferocity and hunting skills. This big owl (the 2nd heaviest in North America after the Snowy Owl) is also called the 'hoot owl' after its deep, booming

as a child we could hear the owls every night..with the farmers clearing the trees for more planting room--no more owls deer or rabbits..only PLANTING ground..so sad

Thank you Kathy. I have a pair of Great Horned owls that live near me. They are incredible. They truly have a sense of their own Beingness. They will make direct eye contact. One can sense their spirit. I love learning more. Again, thank you.
