At 8848 meters, Mt Everest is the world's tallest, and one of its most remote, trash heaps. Shown here is part of its accumulation of plastic bottles.

Horrible...is the word I would use. The pollution and destruction of the Earth's biosphere by humans is a constant and continual crisis. How could any of the Mt. Everest climbers leave their trash in such a pristine place?

This is one reason why colonizing other planets or moons is concerning. Just imagine the trash heaps & destruction we would leave there as well.

What of a law that states nothing new can be manufactured or sold unless the company involved has a disposal system? I think it would help. Now - how to deal with plastic on the mountains and in the oceans.
