So before you go and blame the poor person for killing 4 people; before you go and judge the person for being insane; before you hate the person for doing such a thing understand one thing

Actually I don't think is anything to do with the person, per se. but circumstances and how they can trigger buttons in apparently everyday, sane, rational people.

The Global Financial Crisis has demonstrated how flawed the world's financial systems are without any shadow of doubt, when run by humankind, and the resulting consequential mess and the bizarre, irrational, nonsensical, lunatic, crazed attitude that "we're all in this together" populated by U.S, U.K, and to some extent European financial institutions, has created situations that undermine societies, and families on a deep level...

> it isn't rare and it is going to accelerate as the system keeps on pushing the individuals over the edge
=exactly=
and (imh-but very well-considered-o) it's either the $y$tem or us, us all. That is, either we do away with the $y$tem (and, actually, ANY system of monetary-ism), and do so quite soon, or we are done away with for good.

EMS certainly seems like an interesting proposal...

Cool Article - I Agree.
I can see this in my own life, how things that should be quite simplistic like going to the shop for groceries or driving to work become points of tension and stress due the lack of money available to the majority no matter how many hours one work. This definitely create unnecessary stresses where the current set-up of our money system make normal everyday things into stressful events, I agree with the Equal Money Proposal. As a practical Solution for us as Humanity to Prove we actually DO care about Life.

Thanks and Noted!
How can any child be safe in a world where we exist in fear of each-other, driven by our 'differences' as we place the "value" of our mental/cultural/religious beLIEfs before the value of life that we all share?

Indeed, we made earth into an unsafe place as we've allowed and accepted an unequal and outdated economic operating system to run down Life in the name of profit for the few. I agree we should come to a new covenant as to distribute everything that is here to all equally. No other way out...

How awful. Of course, in the U.S., we have banks foreclosing on people's houses even as they pretend to negotiate loan modifications!

VERY sad. Things are definitely stressful for people in today's economic and financial climate all over the world. We never know what someone is going through, and just how much more frustration they can handle till they flip their wigs.

(Not like we ever have anybody in the U.S. flip out and kill people.....)

WTF? Is this article actually blaming the monetary system of the free world for some nut who decides to kill unarmed, innocent people because he owes the bank $1500? When exactly does an individual take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming society? I guess it's easier to sit in your living room pontificating about the evils of a free society if no one you know was killed by some guy who decided that the answer to an overdraft is killing anyone who happens to be in the bank at the wrong time.

Vicky, hardly one to talk about hateful crap, when you've spewed it here on Care2 like a garbage truck that lost its rear wall. You're attracted to anything even remotely negative about Israel, like flies to cow patties, and you're one of the biggest hypocrites here to boot.

In fact, I said nothing hateful. I offered facts and a perspective check. Rather than deal with the facts, all you can do is avoid it and resort to ad hominem attacks, a classic sign of someone who knows they can't defend a position, and of lesser character as well.

Perhaps if you don't like it, you could do truth and civility a favor, and find somewhere else yourself, but I imagine it wouldn't be a very pleasant place to be.

Hi Beth :)

Islamic violent religious supremacists are a serious problem where they are active, but the article is about another threat which is also dangerous everywhere. Economics are unforgiving, so without some serious work on a safety-net, their realities can drive already-borderline people over the edge, to suicide or worse.

Noted, thanks. Fear is rampant in our societies today and it does not take much to push some people over the edge...............Judge not lest ye be judged - is always a good adage to go by,.

VERY sad. Things are definitely stressful for people in today's economic and financial climate all over the world. We never know what someone is going through, and just how much more frustration they can handle till they flip their wigs.

(Not like we ever have anybody in the U.S. flip out and kill people.....)

We all know that there is something very wrong with our banking systems. The banks are too quick to offer incentives to help people become debtors. But, can we not ask why we are constantly allowing ourselves to accept loans and terms of interest that are not healthy for us to deal with! In our world we want so much of everything and are too impatient to wait for anything. This is a tragedy that really could happen anywhere and that makes it an even greater tragedy for us all.

Vicky P, dont waste your time on BethS - this poor soul's only reason for living is to spew hatred, a truly sad individual who probably missed out in the distribution of brain cells. She has no interest in rational, logical discussion on any topic. What a wasted life!!!

And don't forget all the suicides of desperate people who have lost everything - their homes, businesses and incomes - all to the greedy, corrupt, incompetent bankers and corporations that rule the world now.

This is just one sad story out of so many.

Sadly, no one could get elected president of the US, and more and more countries, or keep their office (look at Nixon - Watergate was just the excuse, his refusal to obey the corporate masters on 'free trade' and globalization was the real cause of his downfall) without obeying the orders from Wall St. Robber Barons.

Corporations have finally taken over the world. It's called Neo-Feudalism and most of us are the serfs that make the money for the few who get richer with every passing minute, and out governments make sure they continue to get richer and what little social programs there are are eliminated.

The US's constant invasions, wars and occupations of other countries (for 247 out of the past 250 years - non-stop) has always been about making the world a safer place for its corporations to plunder, and now there is the added pressure from the corrupt, tyrannical, anti-freedom Saudis directing US foreign policy. And the USAmerican people still fall for the BS and 'support our troops' nonsense and cheer each new invasion and war, even though it is bankrupting the country and costing them money, social services, infrastructure and any respect in the world.

The only way we can ever change any of this is to start voting for Independent candidates for everything and refusing to continue to support and elect anyone from the two wings from the One Corporate Party. Haven't you all noticed how Democrats have become almost identical to Republicans in their support of the corporations since 1973? There hasn't been a real Democrat in the WH since LBJ. Think about it. They're all the same and Obama's just the latest Corporate flunky to occupy the WH, but he isn't doing much for the people.

But how can we expect the People to make wise decisions at the ballot box when the media, which is supposed to inform them of corruption and what is really going on, is owned by the very corporations that control everything and decide what it is we are to know and think?

@janet F - Unless you place yourself in the shoes of those who are in great financial/survival stress, you cannot judge or blame them. Also, if you would to understand the Mind/Consciousness, you would understand how financial and survival stress can leads one to make irrational decisions such as suicide, murder and etc. SO - the first solution is to create a foundation from which everyone can live un-stressful life that would enable us to go through a process of Remediation meaning - identify the thoughts, feelings and emotions that leads one to destructive behavior and correct ourselves to functions only within the realm of what is best for all lives. that requires an extensive process of re-education that can only be walked by EVERYONE within the Equal Money System. So - if you are not in a survival mode and really care about yourself and others - check out the Journey to Life blogs where a commitment to change ourselves and thus the world is visible in a daily writing. The point is - you cannot judge another without understanding the Mind, you cannot blame the economic system because we are the one who created this dysfunctional economic system but you can instead take responsibility first for your own mind and then expand yourself to a point of being able to support another and eventually can stand as a support for everyone.

To janet f., I am not sure that we are talking about the same planet since you are stressing the point of a free world and a free society when in fact if you don't have Money, you are just FREE to die. Please do not believe me, go and try it out, then you will realize that the Freedom you are upholding is just Propaganda you bought into, there is no Freedom here but the one you can buy and that makes 2.5 billion people who don't have access to the Freedom On Sale just Slaves, so, really, have a Reality Check, as in check out Reality by stepping out of what you have been told and believed such as FREEDOM, then you are welcome to post your comments again if and when you realize that so far it's one of the Free Freedom left, the one to tell each other that we better wake up to our Slavery so we can Change.

People shouldn't have to die going to the bank. That's terrible.

@Laura Saxon - People don't have to die from starvation around the world and yet they do, every few seconds. People don't have to die at wars that are based on gaining power/control/money and yet they do, on a daily basis. People don't have to suffer from ineffective housing structure and yet they do, 24/7. So - if you really care about people dying from unnecessary death, investigate the Equal Money System and the Equal Life Foundation.

It would seem that a violent nation uses violence for all kinds of inappropriate reasons. Violence there, no matter what the issue, appears to be an ingrained reflex action. SO sad!

I agree - it is important for us to realize and consider not just the being in which acted out in violent/aggressive ways, but the context and the events/situation/environment that lead to such a creation - we see money as a cause for so many problems in our world - this included. Yes individuals are responsible, yet are we giving individuals the ability to care for themselves and providing another way to live without money being the most valued thing in life?

The system is guilty, the system is cruel. The system generates insane people capable of committing insane acts such as these.

I can feel for that person, obviously he was stressed out about his $ 1500 debt. But banks are merciless and heartless even about small amounts and try to take all. I guess the poor man snapped and found himself in a very delicate situation. As last resort he did the wrong thing, but I still think the bank is to blame. they should have given him a break. But banks are not like that, they grab what they can.
