Greater empowerment of women has led to greater hassle and anxiety too. A recent survey was conducted from February to April to find out which country has the most stressed and optimistic women throughout the world.

This must be a minority of minorities in India. Groceries? Time & money for what???? - I imagine this is not a serious commentary.Everybody knows optimistic stress alone does not cause hunger, sickness, homeless or killing of baby girls. And surely does not cause mistreatment and killing of animals and destruction of forests... But on the contrary,if you feel alive and love life,India's situation can easily cause stress, nervous breakdowns, depression, sadness and urgency to help. More on, if it is your own country.
Thanks Anna

Bringing women to equality does bring the stress that comes with self determination.

Indian men do not help in home but only outside and women has to do outside and inside work and get stressed, but they do their work gracefully.

I remember in New Delhi and in Bombay women were very strong and outspoken. Unfortunately, in some less populated areas, and in the most poverty-ridden areas of the big cities, girls and women are definitely no better off now than previously, especially IF they are dominated by a patriarchal religious based community.

All the Indian women that I have kown in my life, seem to be far less likely to whinge than women more used to an easier life! I know that women get different stressors when they move into a different culture or have more freedom and power, but it depends how much those stressors cause harm, on the attitude to that stress. I would have like this article to go into more depth and discuss the issues more fully as it is very interesting, I only hope that the attitude of hope that is noted here, is really the attitude of MOST of the Indian women. Thanks Anna.

Hi all !I live in India and! take it from me, Indian women, even when they are stressed, it's hardly ever noticable. Indian women have it in their genes to " grin and bear it " From time immemorial women in India have always been the backbone of the families, men might strut and posture, but it's the women and their strength that lie at the center of the smooth running of the home and consequently the office, business, work place. Never underestimate the durability of this most stalwart of women, she is first a daughter, then a wife, mother and mentor. You'll hardly ever hear her suggestions, but mark you well, decisions are always her's, however insidiously !
Maybe I'm biased, but this lady can travel the globe and still keep her family and culture center-stage. Stress is something that she learns to cope with from the time she is born. The odds are loaded against her, yet she triumphs !

Indian women are very strong. They do jobs which is a men's work here in the west. Yet they don't complain. We can learn much of them.
