Forget resolutions. That’s mine for 2009!

Brian Tracey has the right idea: “Good habits are hard to form and easy to live with. Bad habits are easy to form and hard to live with. Nothing is neutral. Everything counts.”

Please share your new year's resolutions!

You're so right, Suzybell. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Healthy eyes and good vision are also a child's best school supply...

"9. Don’t go more than two years without an eye exam. Think prevention. Early detection and treatment is always best. Read more about eye exams here.
Do make an eye appointment with your eye doctor every year."

I'm really bad about this, but I am going to go make an appointment today.

I actually am going next week for my yearly eye exam, something I used to put off for up to 3 years at a time. I don't take them for granted as much as I used to. Thanks Janet for sharing!!

Thanks for your post, dear Janet. For those who are a bit older and postpone regular eye exams because of fear: nowadays cataract surgery is a matter of minutes, painless, and with the new lens implants, if needed, a very simple procedure. Apart from that, many people are borderline diabetic, without knowing it. Make sure you have your retinas checked, and have regular checks for glaucoma. See an ophthalmologist for these check ups.

Ah yes, it is time for me to go get checked. Thanks for reminding all of us. People do tend to take eye sight for granted. I remember all to well, in school, I had to sit up front because of poor vision. I never got glasses until the fifth grade. What was wrong with my parents? Anyways, I have bad eyesight, but, at least it is correctable. Let's all get checked for our friend, Janet.

Wow! Care2 friends, these comments have been GREAT!

Suzybell, Michael, Misti Blue, Eric, Jeff, Reni, Amena, Yvonne, Tere, Uhoud, Phyllis, Kari, Stuart, Mike, Michael Owens, and Sharen...thanks for affirming the importance of taking care your eyes.

When Amy had her first eye exam, I didn't know anything about children's vision. Now I know. Now may everyone else know.

Thanks for all your help and support with Vision First so no other child struggles in school!

One thing I'd like to see is more companies (or if nationalized health care ever materializes) is to have optical care be a part of a health insurance plan. Many people don't even get optical insurance but it is important to have. Very few employers offer optical insurance.

Thanks, Sue, Henry, and Michael, for your comments! Sue--glad the post "opened your eyes!" I wear computer glasses. At your next eye appointment, ask your eye doctor if you could benefit from them, too.

Michael...I agree with you! And I'd like to add that vision therapy should be included as well. It seems that vision is always last when it should be first. I've seen coverage that included physical therapy, speech therapy, psychotherapy, but NOT vision therapy.

Let's hope Vision First can raise that awareness that quality eye and vision care is extremely important.
